Default who where and when....

I had a post about wanting to get into jets but the best thing to do is go to a field where they fly the rc jets and i like to know who on here flys near space city rc or in the north west area of houston? i know bomber field but a little too far away and i like to talk to some pilots of what i need to do in order to get a waiver the first type of trainer jet i like to buy one thats all ready to fly i dont have that good of building skills, if i where to build i better start learning to build on the piper arrow i know what to do but sometimes my hands won't do what my mind tells them you know what i mean? anyway i like to just go out to a field near and find out what the jet rc age is all about! thanks

if i where to fly at scobe i would want to buy a spectrum transmitter and is it a little bit risky to bring your high dollar aircraft to someplace with not much security? where someone can just pick up your part or field box and walk away? also do you have to be a member?

You do not have to be a member to fly at Scobee. I have flown there on maybe half a dozen occasions with no problems. There are probably more jet guys flying at Scobee than any other field in the Houston area. It's a 45 mile drive to Scobee from my house, so I don't fly there often. I do most of my flying at Texas City RC Club on about 700' of grass.

All waiver affidavit applicants should have accomplished at least 50 flights on a high
performance model capable of sustained speeds of 100 mph or higher.
The pilot will successfully perform a qualification flight consisting of all flight maneuvers
from the Turbine Applicant Flight Demonstration under the supervision of two experienced
turbine pilots, one of whom is a contest director. The qualification flight shall be completed
by one of the following two methods:
1) The qualification flight will be performed with a model capable of sustained
speeds of 100mph or higher;
or

2) The qualification flight will be performed with a turbine powered model. The
applicant must first have flown the turbine powered model on a buddy box with an
experienced turbine pilot in control of the master transmitter. The experienced
turbine pilot will assist the applicant with as many flights as necessary until he is
satisfied that the applicant is prepared for the qualification flight after which the
experienced turbine pilot will declare the applicant qualified to perform the
qualification flight flying solo without buddy box assistance.
Following the successful completion of the qualification test flight the pilot will then submit
the Turbine Qualification Flight Attestation as proof of compliance with the above pilot
requirements.

Yep it's me...been in hibernation, waiting for consistent temps over 60.

Plus you know my agenda is to fly when there is the least amount of activity in the air, not that I am unsociable, just that my time is limited for pattern practice so I try to optimize time spent at the fling field.

I do enjoy watching turbines, I‘m sure I’ll run into you soon at Scobee now that weather is getting warmer. Beside on a busy weekend after a jet lands I rely on the jet crew to draw attention long enough for me to get in a flight before the runway gets busy again.
