I may be way out of line here, so if I am, tell me. I have been flying a DF YA F-16 for a few months and I just recieved my Babby Boomer but I am waiting for the turbine. Is it possiable to be put on a buddy cord at FJ with one of you guys with a BOOMER? I would like to get the feel for her. If it is ok, what do I need to bring? I do not have a waiver as of yet. Let me know, thanks ChipperG.

well i did just that @desert jet storm....and it was good experience while flying waiver checkride with 3or 4 other jets in pattern....also flying @ other site with different visual clues....but i knew my instruc. pilot would be there and we had buddy boxes set up and knew they worked.....also we didnt try to fly during height of activity.....picked a time just after official jet fly....but that was at ralley w/60 pilots...at a club venue with very good club officers.....nobody said a word.....fj.....maybe to big.....too much stuff happin...anyway good luck......kelly

Why don't you check it out with Frank Tiano to make sure? He might like to hear about this ahead of time..
Never hurts to get it from the horses mouth ahead of time.

Kelly is probably right and Harley is the voice of reason.
FL Jets sounds like it would be an absolute nightmare to fly at. Waiting for 30 minutes plus with the engine on in line...doing slow patterns waiting to land...in a crosswind...
I'm gonna pass on bringin' a jet. I just want to watch and get to know people...
But, it never hurts to ask!

I have agreed with Harley on nearly everything he has ever written here. But I passionately disagree that Fl. Jets is not the place to get on a buddy chord and fly your jet. I have been watching the BVM tent do this for years at this and other rallys.
If you need some help, bring your airplane over to the Dreamworks tent and ask for me, and if we need anything to get you going, Dreamworks will have most their stock on hand at a fair price.

Sean,
Please re-read my post.
I didn't make any type of recommendation one way or the other of buddy box use at FJ, I merely suggested that he check it out with Frank Tiano ahead of time. I don't suppose that he would like being turned down after hauling his stuff down there because he believed someone here on RCU that can't and doesn't speak for Frank..
Just my .02 worth.

If you can't get help getting a jet started and flown at a Jet Rally, where the heck can you get help? Take your chances and hang out with some great people.

Guys you have to understand last year I arrived at Florida Jets the first day of the event and it was like a ghost town the majority of the participants won't be flying on the first day, now after that it heats up and the lines are full but you should be able to get flights in just come early and I would be shocked if 10 guys were flying the first half of the first day.

Thanks for the info guys. I am waiting for the wren 54 ss from Patricia. I do not think I will have it ready due to the fact that I bought a business and it is taking up most of my time but I will try. I will be there on sat and sun. I would love to meet some of you and look at your planes. In reply to dream works, thanks , I placed an order last wed and I am waiting for the goodies. If I need some more stuff, you can bet I will be at your tent. PS the new business is savannahaviation.com
