Paul, I too would be interested in the measurements of the new wing. Also, if there are any top view photos with the new wing that might be very helpful for me. I can't wait to fly my new 44gold. !~).
I have an e-mail out to Jim about the F86 as well. Is anyone flying this plane that you know of?
Sorry to hear about your familys loss. Thanks for sharing, we have similar longevity in my family as well.
Regards,
Joe

Thanks for the condolences.
The F86 is flying in the UK, goes really well with a 44.

I have checked with Fox Comp.
The new wing is 59" span and slightly wider at the tip, this gives a bit more wing area to reduce wing loading.
Off to Italy now for a couple of days (work), update at the weekend.

Paul, is the 59" wing still "scale" or is it enlarged compared to the fuselage. I hope that this larger wing will not look strange!
Will this new wing same weight than the one you have? do you feel this added wing area is necessary ?
I am very intested in your built post. I am reading it and waiting for your second built and your flight report before I pouchase mine from Fox.

The larger wing will be not 100% scale, but the way Jim is doing it it will look right.
The current wing gives high wing loading, which is OK if you are used to it. Trevor Skedge fly’s his really well, stunning performance.
The problem with high loading is that if you fly in a tight field, grass strip, you may have issues with tight turns etc.
It is really up to you. The kit is now lighter than the original prototypes, which helps.
I am waiting for the new wing for mine, weight should be similar to the existing lighter wing.

Not quite done on the cockpit, other things to do i am afraid!
Started using some othe the excelent decals from Tailormade.
They are fantastic [sm=thumbs_up.gif]
I am quite pleased with it, not exact scale but a reasonable representation at this scale. Better than a blank cockpit

Paul,
You obviously like this kit more than your L39 on the basis that the L39 hasn`t had this detail lavished on it
.
I have started to add the Tailormade decals to mine and this has given it a new look. Are you coming to Classic Jets?

OK guys
Cockpit makeup is almost done.

I have included a couple more pics of the cockpit.
You may remember from the earlier build that the canopy is designed to fit over the outside of the frame.
This is not scale but was done for simplicity.
I know that Fox Comp are changing this for later kits but I was determined do make mine fit on the inside of the frame to make it 'look right' for the new cockpit interior.
The only way I can see of making it work is to cut the canopy at the front beneath the frame
This gives two pieces.
The cockpit interior is fitted and glued in place and the front section of canopy fitted.
It is then possible to fit the rear section.
I have included two pics of the cut canopy and will show the rest of the assembly tomorrow.

Paul,
Not that you need inspiring but a flying shot from yesterday to keep you going. Taken at Classic Jets by Dick (top bloke) Spreadbury.
