Default Comp. Arf lightning

HI all, can you tell me if you guys who are flying the lightning, used the supplied alumium pins and clips for the linkages, or did you guys not trust them and put in steel nuts and bolts.

I've been flying my Lightning for more than 18 months with the Clevis and pin set up-no issues at all.
I also use them on several other Comp ARF models like my Pitts S12-again no problem

It's worth lightly greasing them so they cannot pick up-but the rotation is so small and slow it's not a big issue.

Regards

Is that painted in the mold, or your work? Either way it looks great.......

HI, thanks for the input on the pins.
The paint scheme was done by me, have got to clearcoat one more wing and the painting will be done.
I''ll get a pic tonight.
PS Are you guys using a matchbox or slaving the two elevator servos.

I have two with stock setups that I have been flying for two years without problem. Dave hit the nail on the head ... make sure the metal to metal surfaces are greased. Also, check to make sure you haven't lost the e clips regularly. If you aren't careful getting them on and they get stretched, they can depart the pin.

I am using a Powerbox Champion to mix on one and a matchbox on the other.

Echo the thoughts on the paint scheme ... love it.

The stock clips seemed a little weak to me so I swapped them for flat e-style from www.mcmaster.com part # 98543A101 - A bag of 100 is $3.03. I also lubed the pins as stated in the manual.

My Lightning is set-up on the JR 10x under code 22 - wing type - quad flaps with dual elev. My rudder and steering are thru a matchbox. I found it keeps things simple this way, but uses all 10 channels.

Rcpete, are you going to Winamac in June?
