Default cermark viper II

has anyone flown the new version of the viper that cermark sells. i'd like some honest input on them . i was going to buy one awhile ago but didn't because i thought is wasn't a scale plane . i was surprised to find out it was . how do they fly . any problems? worth the money/ thanks ,WB_1

I had the version before tha last vesrsion and it had a P120 in it. It weighed in at 26 lbs dry with a smoke system. I liked the plane a lot and I had tons of flights on it. It got locked out on a bad channel (ch56) at best in the west in 2004 and it flat landed on its belly and got destroyed.

I hear the new version is a couple of lbs heavier but flys well indeed. If you get one for a good price, it is a good design. I actually saw the full size and talked to its pilot at Reno in 2005!!! He said he actually saw my Viper in a low fly by in one of the rags!!! We had a long discussion and I checked all the controls.

You may have to put some nose weight. Mine required none.

Skygate is more scale but costs much more---Also requires a Titan or equivalent...

I have a Cermark Viper that is about a year old. Very good flyer both from grass and asphalt. The only vice that I can tell is that if you try to rotate too early she can tip stall on you...Which I have recovered from every time. ALWAYS use aileron crow for landing and hinge the flaps for as much throw as you can get. When she gets slow it will wing rock before the stall. When at any speed above landing this bird goes where you point it and is very stable. I got mine from Quick Tech Hobby which was cheaper than anyone else at the time...

Yup - and it's all in the tail. The one I built up for Reggie required a full pound of lead in the nose, even with the ECU battery + a 3000 mah 5-cell nicad right up in the nose, the fuel pump, solenoids, ecu all up right against the nose bulkhead, etc.

IMO it could have been much better balanced if they had used a reasonable amount of high quality resin for the layup, instead of using a cheaper resin and laying it up incredibly thickly to compensate.
