Airspeed I did not have that issue. All 3 of my batts are under the canopy. One after for the ECU and 2 forward for the radio. However I am running a fairly heavy motor with the Golden West. Your tail weight does sound exsessive compared to the few other Falcons I have seen.

I too had to add lead to the stab. I don't remember the exact amount but I think it was 8 or 9 oz. I was able to get some in the vertical fins in the cut out that the horizontal goes into. The lead will end up on the vertical post that the hinges for the rudder are into. Be sure to leave enough room to get the stab into the cut out. The rest went into the servo bay. I used one servo on the bottom of the stab with a hatch.

Guys, it seems strange that you have problems with balancing. My home made engine will be around 1 lb heavier than your engines. The old version Falcon, was more tail heavy than the new version. I had my ecu and rx batteries mounted on rails as far as physically possible on the old one. The new one has the rx bat by the nose wheel well and ecu bat by the front spar. My nose leg with its extending mechanism is slightly heavier than original one and still i have no problems balancing. tim

If you read back thru the post, I am not sure where, the fuse on some of these planes where heavier than others. One person had 2 of them one being white and orange and the other being black and orange. He weighed both and the black and orange fuse was hevier according to him.
I have the black and orange and my batteries are all the way in the back of the fuse. I also used the stock fuel tank for a smoke tank and it is mounted right under the canopy. This may have mad the differance for me. The only thing up in the nose is the air tank. I really did not have problems balancing it I just had to add tail weight.

Based on the pictures you posted earlier I'd say your main problem is that your engine is mounted too far forward. I'd suggest making a new mount that moves your engine back far enough that the starter no longer sticks into the fuse.
My engine is mounted such that half of its weight extends beyond the back of the fuse. I don't have a real good picture of it, but you can get the idea from these.

Yes thats what I ended up doing, I just extended the cutout on the bottom of the fuse to install the batteries, then I just made a longer hatch to cover the whole opening.
also I must of mis-measured or something went wrong when I measured the 13" for the CG,, I re-measured it with a metric tape at 330mm and I was about 1/2 inch to far back
I went from having to add 11oz to 7oz. So while the jet was on the stand I opened up two small holes in the bottom of the rear stab and I was able to glue the lead in there.
It balanced well just slighty tail heavy,, that should equal out when I fill the UAT. Well she's ready for her maiden,, but I dont think my wife will appreciate me going tomorrow...
I wish it was Fathers day instead, oh well it will have to wait till next weekend.

I had twelve oz's of lead taped to the stab with my Airpower retracts, had an in-flight air leak and had to belly it in on it's maiden flight. Went back to the Springair's and had to remove 6 oz from the tail to re-balance. What a difference in weight between retracts.

I had the springair's in my original Falcon which worked flawlessly for 80+ flights. I lost the plane to dumb thumbs. I bought my second Falcon with the Airpower retracts already installed by another gentleman. He was having problems with air leaks on set-up and got frustrated with it so he sold it to me. I fussed with them for many weeks, re-plumbing, removing leaking quick connects etc, etc. I finally got them working or so i thought. Then had them not come down on the maiden flight which caused me to belly in a brand new plane. I was not happy to say the least. Had to repair broken servos, flaps, etc. So i pulled them out not wanting another mishap. The springair's are air up spring down which gives me confidence again. Maybe i just got a defective set, but i even put wire around the connectors and still had air leaking. I have had many different types of air operated retracts and never had the issues i had with these.

Hi guys, Is any one flying a Futaba 10C with the F6014FS rec in their Falcon,, Just wondering if there were any issues.. I did have a problem getting the Hitec digital rudder servo's to work with a Y connection though. They worked one at a time ok, but chattered like mad with the Y... I know about the low signal voltage on channels 3-14..
I installed the electro dynamics amplifer buffer and that solved the problem... I have the ailerons on a Y connection with no issues, channels 1 and 2 put out the full 3 volt signal.
I was just wondering if anybody had expierenced any inflight issues.

we sold a lot of the airpower units and all have worked ok for the job..
for the falcon we use the 250 series .
a few things i would like to mention :
1. use correct tubing no play or they WILL leak.
2 . bearers must be strait if not the frames will bend and cause friction and your gear will not work ok..
3 . trunion blocks , we see a lot of customers really over tighten them with the result that thr trunion blocks will bend and crack.
the bend also will cause the trunion axle to bend ,and cause frinction.
4. a good tip is to use green zap ca and put it on your oleo,s , slide them in the trunion blocks and Fasten them the ca will settle.
or even better use Locktite 648 this is a sort of glue we use to set also the oleo,s..

Unlimited vertical and very short take off!!!

Had a problem with Y Harness on flaps &Rudders.
The Y harnesses I used had the buffers built in (JR Products)
I made up Y Harnesses without buffers and that solved the problem you described.
