Thrust needed to take off from grass field ?
Hello,
This afternoon I was on the field to male the maiden flight of my new Easyjet from Digitech.
I have a jetcat P60 and the grass is very good quality but very thick.
It was impossible to take off because the speed of the plane on the ground was too low...not enought thrust !!
I would like to install a Wren supersport on my plane in order to take off !!!
The weight of the plane ready to take off is about 19lbs.
What do you think of that ?? DIs you have any experience of grass field ??

the problem is:
1 . Cut the Gras
2 . set the angle on the front wheel higher! MUST be positive..
3 .let it roll and pull up agressive...
on our video it was flown from grass ,with a Wren 44 Gold..
show me a picture from the side..
is the CG ok?
must be on the TUBE and not hanging nose forward..

Ok I will send you a picture of the plane..Thanks Sandor :-)
To cut the grass it will be difficult, this is a private field (grass for professional use)...
THis is not very high but thick
Regards

RE: Thrust needed to take off from grass field ?
I have an RCM Eagle V that weighs 13 lbs and is powered with a WREN MW54MKIII and it has small wheels and it easily takes off from grass. on the first flight however I had the CG too noseheavy and it took quite a bit of coaxing to get it off. Now with the CG corrected it takes off easily within 30-50 feet! I also have a FLASH that weighs 17 lbs and has a Wren SS in it that I had problems with on grass ( pins breaking) but now that I have trailing link suspension and 6.3mm pins ( 1/4") and I lowered the nosegear a bit to get a little + angle of attack it now takes off almost as well as the Eagle.
I agree that cutting the grass nicely does help!!
THEN check your FOD screens occisionally as you WILL have some grass debris on them!
