Default Tam, you are THE MAN! A follow up on gear fail safe

I sent two units back to Tam to follow up with the programming change!

Here's how it works now:

Setup as usual.

If you have a leak and the gear pop down, the gear servo remains dormant UNTIL you put the transmitter in the gear down position.

This is a massive and critical update for me!

THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU LITTLE ASIAN!

I had a leak in my Rookie gear that just happen to leak on the gear up cycle. I didn't even have to set my timer because 6 minutes into the flight the air would bleed down to 60psi and the Tamjets failsafe would drop the gear--time to land!

Good stuff.

Sean,

I apologize for my lack of understanding, I don't understand what you mean by this. Does it lower the gear as soon as the air pressure drops below a certain point? What difference does it make if the servo moves or not? Again, I honestly don't know.

This will allow to operate brake on the same retract channel.
This option is excellent for those don't have spare channel to operate the brake valve.
The new software also work with any type of electronic valve and gear door sequencer on the market.
There is more...new soft feature the automatic disable failsafe mode just by pump air 20 psi over the thread hold pressure setting. This is very usefull when check the undercarriage with few cycle too see if the gear failsafe work while engine are running.
Check your gear failsafe unit. If you see the white sticker on the unit. That is the new version.

Hi Tam

I have just ordered 3 Tamjet failsafes to Great Northern Models. I guess one was already in stock, but they are ordering new ones. Can you let me know if these are already being shipped with the soft upgrade?

There is many order place everyday and we do process every single order. I can't answer this question or the time to track what our dealers order. Please contact the dealer you purchase it from for the answer.
If dealer had old version in stock. Their should send it back to us for free ungrade software. If their place an order with us in the last month. Yes it is a new upgrade gear failsafe unit.

Note, you only need the upgrade if your landing gear AND BRAKES are on the same channel of your receiver!!!!

Or if you are going to be using an electronic retract valve such as the Jetronic valves...Gary

Whoa Gary, that's one I didn't think of! If you lose power on your valve you are no longer positive air!

Hi Sean

That's the idea

I got only 9 channels to fly a F18F. With the weatronics receiver, that I am planning to use, I think I can spare 2 channels.

How do you run both brakes and retracts off one channel?

Keep in mind, I'm not very smart.

You can use a regular retract valve, and set a mix to overtravel the retract channel and hit the mix button for brakes. One channel, 2 functions with basic materials.

DO you like those valves? Are they pretty reliable? Better that a UP or BVM or JetTronic?

I would not use them if I didn't think it was better, although the ones you mention are very good

Or if you want the unit to reset when you add more air, without the need for doing a power-cycle. That's a huge advantage IMO
