"Shui" takes one for the team, and becomes one of the newest members of the Combat Drinking Club, one of only three US members...we're so proud of him!!!
Dean James, or is it James Dean, "a real Crocodile Dundee", kept the flight line straight. His volunteer actions along with the Dutch team members who volunteered to fill in helped to move the event along...

Rod takes off for another flight...
A master craftsman, and one "super cool guy", Graeme was forced to room with "Shui" all week long. We have decided to change Shui's name to "the Hindenberg" since he appears to be prone to gaseous expulsions at the drop of a hat....

You would not think the "back row" of judges was forgiving if you had heard some of the comments! I.e. "I didn't know the Kaiser roll was one of Shui's options".
Best regards
John

Skymasters F-4 with 2 Jet Central Falcon's. This plane looks awsome!!! MR Top Gun going to work on My F-18. I must say thanks to everyone that helped with Bunny's fiberglass surgery. Dave and many others chiped in to put her back together. thanks for the supplies. A little ZAP will do. This is my ZAP magazine add photo, it was a great smile , but I didn't really feel like smiling at that point.

Dave Ribbe's MIG-15 with the U.S. falg in the back ground. Monica Helping dave for his next mission. We made fun of David few the first few days. His plane is like a Top fuel funny car. It ran for a few seconds and then you have to do a total over haul.LOL just joking David.. This is the first round. 4.5 seconds later we had round two

This pic brings up an interesting thought. Obviously, not all countries' modeling organisations have the exact same safety rules etc for their aircraft - in which case, what rules actually apply ?
For instance, with regard to the AMA's rule about separate pods for twin engine installations, I don't believe this installation would be considered acceptable. In that case, if the US hosted a WJM event, would the competitors from all countries have to meet the AMA safety regs in order to be covered by whatever reciprocal agreements apply ? Seems like it could be quite easy for people to inadvertantly fall foul of rules, which would be a real shame. What, if anything, is done to help alleviate such issues ?

That is a good question. I also noted that this installation was without a bypass(es) and therefore did not fit "our" current standards (rules). It however did perform, although I think this is the model that was lost during one of the flights, I did not see the crash, but was told it was a stall situation on final.
In any case, that would have to be addressed. I do know that the rules, as I understand them, have to be adhered to in whichever country has sanctioned the event. In this case, this type of thing would have to be addressed well in advance to prevent a modeler from being DQ'ed due to a safety violation. I am glad you brought this up so it can be looked at in the future when we attempt to host this thing.

Tommy just chillin while all the static was going on. Scott Harris Sabre getting ready to go on stage. This is a Yellow aircraft F-18 that the chinese entered. They are the producers of the kit. They had some very beautiful airplanes there. The English team entered this plane. I really enjoyed watching this plane fly.
