I have no idea I am just curious... I'm sure the pilot knew what he was doing, I just kind of understand why it would be dangerous to lose sight of the model in cloud.. but hey... i bet it looked sweet ;]

I was grounded for the day once, 8 years or so ago, for flyin my 1/2a pylon model too close to the flightline so I cant talk *grin*
(btw that looked sweet too but was a bit DUMB@!)

Ok guys...Let me clear things up here. Jason was punching a cloud but at no time did the model dissapear, you could still see the plane within the cloud, he was NEVER without site of the plane. Hope this clears things up for you....

yea... and nobody is going faster than 200 mph.

Did you see his flights? They were not unsafe. If you did
see them then I simply disagree with your observation,
but if you did not see the flight... oh well

The rules are there to keep us safe, there was nothing
done at FL Jets 2002 that was unsafe, so whats the problem.

Ok Yadontsay,

You have elected to hide behind your veil of anonymity while continuing to criticize a pilot as unsafe. I previously requested that you identify yourself and also let us know if you personally attended FL Jets and witnessed this alleged unsafe flying. You have elected to ignore these requests and continue to hide behind your anonymity. I find your willingness to criticize others while hiding your identity cowardly to say the least. You know whom I am and that I attended FL Jets. I have not endeavored to hide my identity at all. Once again, who are you and did you attend? Or, would you rather continue to hide behind your anonymity and criticize that for which you did not personally observe?

FWIW, Jason's flying was safe and within the AMA guidelines. He never flew when the rain was falling hard enough to obscure his visibility and, when he went very high, as soon as he entered the clouds he immediately exited in a flat spin. In other words, Jason flew his plane continuously with un-obscured visibility and if/when his visibility ever did become obscured he immediately remedied the situation. Also, given how flat his spins were, the plane was descending at an extremely slow speed; So slow that it would have taken over 60 seconds to reach the ground. That's plenty of time to recover, and if necessary, shut the engine down.

Yadontsay, it would seem that you would have better things to do than sit around and be a curmudgeon. We all had a blast down at FL Jets and it is unfortunate that sour pusses like you sit on the side lines carping at every opportunity and endeavor to spoil our good honest fun with negative comments and nagging.

Tam: What is the gear on this jet. Why am I having so much trouble finding a swept back nose gear with no left / right offset.

Eddie: You don't look happy man.
Perhaps is't because a very good
flier being ragged on by a "?"

Mr> Dickens: Invite him to the next meet. Im sure a few of the guys would like to have a talk with him?

BTW: You know it's just another Troll. I did my home work last night and found 1 person that comes in with at least two usernames.

Bkf

I wasn't at FJ, sounds like by the weather it may have been a good year to miss. But I do remember a pattern meet years ago where a pilot inadvertently entered the cloud base. It was about 15 or 20 seconds, maybe longer, before it reappeared, and it was a long way away from where he thought it was going to come out. It does seem like entering a cloud is flirting with trouble. But then again, I have seen Jason spin the 'Spot, and it is pretty controllable. As most out this way may know, I've occasionally had issues with some things he does, probably just my conservative, blockheaded outlook. But there are very few out there that have his level of talent. He's a great pilot.

It does seem that the level of safety being displayed at all these jet meets warrants a review of the AMA requirements, particularly with the airframe limitations. Worked good in the past, got us to where we are now, but needs to be updated.

I have seen a pilot in the UK fly a model in the fog, via sound....I don't know what he'd of done if someone run an engine on ground...A prop jet not a jet engine i might add...
This person would be band in the US straight away!

Default FL Jets

Just had to add my .02

The weather did not seem to scare off the boys from team WetCat. The Southern California boys flew through all but the worst of what the sunshine state had to offer. There were two fliers that impressed the heck out of me. One being the Jet Masters champ flying the L-39 through the most impresive scale routine I have ever seen and the other was a British Bloke flying a Bomerang performing low level rolling manuevers that would impress any imac judge.

I would like to thank the following for coming to my defence on the matter of obscured vis.
Gordon, Todd, Eddie, and Tony.
It strikes me funny that all the people on this list that display thier real names seem to never have any issues. We just have to waste our time putting out fires that these trolls start.

Thanks again!!

Just to clear things up =D I wasnt defending or condemning any fliers actions, Just seeking clarification on a technicality. I'm in .au anyway and I guess our rules might differ but i doubt it.

I dont fly at the moment, but flew for five years in my teens (8 or nine years ago).. I flew everything from 1/2a pylon to giant scale models and .. maybe it's just our weather , but I never once managed to get anywhere near the base of a cloud even if i tried! Maybe I just have bad memory.

What was I talking about anyway?
