Default 9 Cap mix question, help

Here is a question for all you 9CAP specialists out there.

I have 4 channels in the wing.
2 Ailerons and 2 flaps.

Ailerons are mixed as normal to give differential and flaps are mixed using endpoints for up and full down, with sub trim for the centre (takeoff positions). This is a standard mix I use for flaps.

I drive this from a 3-position switch (switch C). Up switch is no flap, mid is take off and down is landing.

On the Fox Composites Hawk I need to introduce some up ailerons on full flap to counter the nose down pitch.

This I have done with a 2 free mixers, activated with switch C fully down.
This works fine.

I then decided I would like to introduce a small amount of up elevator on takeoff flap to counter the smaller down moment introduced by the flaps.

I set this up on a free mixed using (again ) switch C but in mid position (take off). The mixer shows that it is on but the elevator cannot be made to move when changing the % mix?

It just seems to ignore the centre position even though it is shown in the mix menu and shows ON at the top of the menu.

Any ideas??[sm=confused.gif][sm=confused.gif]

Personally I don't think you can mix this small takeoff elevator correction to be perfect. But to do this in a simpler way, why don't you use the saiplane menu? This setup is much more tailor made for your needs I think. See in the instruction manual and I think you will try the saiplane menu.

You don't have to change to sailplane, your airplane menu has the " crow or airbrake " mixing there and ready for you to mix ailerons as airbrakes, flaps position an elevator mixing all in one program ready to use for you, just imput the numbers also it is progamed to the " C " switch.

Tried that, it did not seem to work, as i wanted it to, it is the 2 states that confuses it.

I don't think you can have Ail. diferencial and airbrake at the same time but you could do a mix on them to get the up position that you want. Thereis always a way, you could go to the Futaba web page and get the answers that you are looking for there on the How to mix.

I was using the air brakes mix on my Viperjet, ailerons up for airbrakes, flaps and a amall amout of elevator to compesate for the flaps induced down position, you could also get Hitec high end servos and program them to what ever travel or speed you want to take of your diferential needs.

The 9C can do exactly what you want. The Airbrake function should be enabled when switch "C" is in the down position, differential aileron still operates.

Pic 1. With switch "C" in up or centre position, mix OFF.

Pic 2. With switch "C" in down position, mix ON.

Alrighty then, let's try this…

Using the airbrake above to obtain the crow, use Prog Mix 6 or 7 as shown in the photographs. This will provide:

1. Sw C Up - no crow, no flap.

2. Sw C Centre - no crow, flap stage 1 + elevator trim ( positive or negative as needed).

3. Sw C Down- crow, flap stage 2, elevator trim per airbrake, plua a bonus of time delay trim if needed.

(Percentage shown and direction is arbitrary for illustration)

...... I want two mixs........

Yes. That is the answer! Use pmix6 for take off flaps, like that: mix throtle with aileron. you have five positions,so:

thr 1st pos. ------- ail % desired
thr 2nd pos ------- ail same% as 1 st pos
thr 3rd pos -------- ail same% as 1st pos
thr 4th pos -------- ail same % as 1st pos
thr 5th pos -------- ail same % as 1 st pos

Use switch c to activate the mix (center pos.). For landing flaps use pmix7, same way but with % you want. Switch c to activate the mix, but now down pos.

[:@] For up elevator just mix elevator with itself, using the offset. Mater offset ------ slave elevator. % desired . switch c center pos.

Gray,

Are you using the flap channel as the master and the elevator channel as the slave? If so, I would suspect that the elevator can not be made to move because the flap channel is at its "zero" position at takeoff setting and 0 times any percentage is still 0. If you want a fixed amount of up elevator with takeoff flap, use "offset' as the master and "elevator" as the slave. Enable the mix with switch "C" in the center and dial the percentage you want for the required elevator movement. You should always be able to get a surface to move a fixed amount at a certain switch position with a mix with "offset" as master...

Glad it worked for you Grasshopper!

Seriously though, the 9C is pretty versatile for a relatively inexpensive radio.
