RE: f-9f2 panther progress UPDATED
I know this thread is long dead and do not want to beat a dead horse, but I spent some time talking to Nick (pantherflyer) a while back and decided that I had to have a Ziroli Panther and try it for myself. I bought one which was already a DF model, and gutted what was left. I used the original intakes, no bypass, and a homemade pipe. I am using the PST 600R, rated at 14 pounds of thrust, in this plane with about 80 ounces of fuel. SpingAir retracts and BVM wheels and brakes finish it out. No gear doors, and probably will not put them on, but the wheel wells are sealed.
Mine is covered in the Presto covering, and a wonderful job by the builder (Thanks Joe). The first flights have been an absolute pleasure. The plane does have a very long glide, so throttle management is a must if you don't have the speed brakes. The flaps are very effective. Mine weighs around 22 pounds at takeoff and the 14 pounder is more than adequate for this plane. Looks like a meteor in the air with all this chrome. Just another color scheme for a great turbine subject. The Panther is a great airplane and I can't say enough good things about it.
