Default Loctite hysol 9462 source?

Anyone know where to get this stuff?
Know of any online sources?
Is it true that it is the same as Aeropoxy?
I've read that it is less expensive...has that been your experience?
'Nuff questions?
Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

It is identical to Aeropoxy. My friend and i buy it directly from loctite in bulks. I keep my share in the refrigerator and they stay fresh. You can buy one or two at a time from Tam Jets (www.tamjets.com).

We also buy loctite 609D which is 5 minute epoxy and we keep that in our flight box for some field repair (if needed)..

Good Luck..

I've bought it from a local store - called something like Applied Industrial Supplies, or something like that. They have branches all over the place. I'll try to remember to look up the correct name for them.

I might add that if you do a search in the link David said above, in the optional box, type "83142" and that will narrow your search even more.

Hi,

Okay. Now, it it REALLY REALLY the same stuff? I have to ask because that's what people told me about GOOP and a few other brands of silicone-based adhesive. "Oh, yeah, it's the same stuff..."--even though it looked and smelled a little bit different. Huge difference on performance, though. So, please tell me before I order a truckload of this stuff--is it REALLY the same? Like, exactly the same???

Thanks!

Shaun,

Hysol 9462 and AeroPoxy are EXACTLY the same thing. PFM is not repackaged GOOP but repackaged ---6000. I can't recall the first letters on the 6000 stuff. Let me know if you are going to buy in bulk concerning the 9462. I want to get in on the bulk deal with you----I need six cartridges. The last time I went in with someone the price was only about $6 a cartridge. Quite a savings!!!

Wow,

6 bux/cartridge? That's good. The best quote I've gotten has been $8.32/per. Thanks for the info!

Shaun,

Now that I think about it there has been a price increase since the last time I bought some. I'll check around here and see if I can get it cheaper.

OK guys, here's the deal----

I can get Hysol 9462 for $6.43 (+ tax) each from my local distributor if I order at least 36 cartridges. The price will go down as we buy more. If I can get some of you fellas to go in with me we can get a great deal. What I can do is have everyone that wants some to PayPal me their money. Once we get to 36 or more we can place the order. I will mail out the adhesive Priority Mail (add $3.85 for the first pound) to each of you. The adhesive is in a warehouse and will need a couple of days to be shipped here. I will keep a list posted in this thread with your names and quantities. Let me know-----

Hi all----

I just got off of the phone with another distributor. His price for Hysol 9462 is $5.91 each! This is the best that I could come up with out of my three area distributors.

How many do you need????

You guys might want to try 9460F, it is as strong (a bit stronger maybe) than 9462 and dries in about 1/2 the time

I didn't check on the nozzles but I will tomorrow. I'll also check on the 9460F price in case any of you want to order any of it. The $5.91 price did not include UPS shipping from the warehouse to here. All in all I would imagine that the price will end up being a little over $6/cartridge plus tax. I hope that a business friend of mine will be able to buy it for us tax free. We'll see....The good thing about the $5.91 supplier is that we are not locked into buying in bulk. We can buy 1 or 50 for that price. So far I have commitments for 10 cartridges plus any that Stratotanker (Chris) might need. I will let this run over the weekend to see how many we get by Monday. I will be out of pocket for the latter half of the weekend (Sunday) so don't get shook up if I don't respond from Saturday evening 'til Monday afternoon.

I'm getting ready to make the 9462 order. If you want to get in then let me know now. I tried in vain to get a better price on the gun and mixing nozzles. McMaster-Carr has the gun for $20. (Part# 74695A71) and the nozzles (6.1" long, taper tip, twist lock) for 88 cents each in lots of ten. (Part# 74695A25) You can order direct from them. For those of you really trying to save a buck you can get the hand plunger instead of the gun for only $1. (Part# 74695A27) Hand plunger is great for dispensing the adhesive for hand mixes. It might be a little tough to use the hand plunger w/a mixing nozzle attatched, especially if your adhesive is on the cold side.

Default Hysol 9462 & 9460F

Kevin:

Looks like you got a good price. I get mine at the local Fastenal store here in town(Loctite stocking dealer). A box of 10 costs 66.00.

Most of the guys know you can store this stuff for a long time in the frig, not necessarily the freezer, almost indefinitely. I just opened and used some I bought from BVM 3 years ago.

Like Matt noted, the 9460F sets up in about 1/2 the time(pot life) of 9462. Still takes about 6 hours to really get hard, vs. 12 for 9462. Both are spec'd for full cure at room temp of about 72 hours.

It has the same ingredients for all intents and purposes as the 62, but uses a faster hardener.

Default RE: Loctite hysol 9462 source?

hey guys, I know this is an old thread, but I'm looking for just a little bit of Aeorpoxy to build my COMPARF 2.6 Yak. I'm not sure, but my guess is that with one tube will be enough. I won't pay the $71 advertised in BVM site so please suggest.
I would need it delivered to Laredo

Fredy,

Actually, the price you are looking at on the BVM site is for the whole glue kit with the "gun" nozzels, either two or four (I forget which) tubes of glue... BVM sells the individual tubes for $11 something. BTW, you don't need the gun to get the glue out of the tubes, but it sure does make it easier.

If you want the generic Hysol equivalent, look at www.dreamworksrc.com
