Tam's T-45 Hawk delivery via planes, trains and automobiles
Well it looks like the Hawk bug has spread to the East coast now also. Cali prefers the Red Arrow version while it looks like there are going to be several T-45's showing up on the East coast now.
Here are a couple shots of the first ones journey I carried back from Tam's shop to deliver to Glen.
First ride was in Tam's monster sized truck.
Followed by a train ride from San Jose to a little past Oakland where I was staying.
Then it got a ride from the Amtrak station to the hotel in the hotel van for a brief rest before another ride to the Oakland airport.
Off to baggage services so it could be sent through the bigger TSA machines and have the guys load it downstairs. Now it also got to ride the tug out to the airplane. Unfortunately I forgot to get a photo of it in the plane portion of its journey comfortably nestled in for its 5 hour journey to Fort Lauderdale.
We arrived just after 7am as scheduled. I went downstairs to check on the box before the ground crew started off loading to make sure it was well taken care of for another short tug ride to baggage claim. Now Glen pulls up curbside just as I am carrying it out rolling it on top of my overnight and flight bag.
Now it wasn't that easy but one very satisfied customer getting such nice service with overnight Saturday morning delivery. Just about 12 hours from time of order to in the customers hands. I think that beats Tam's priority mail record LOL.
Glen already unpacked it by noon and seeing how nice it was for Tam's super special sale, it looks like Carlton will be ordering one Monday. I think I may have to bring back two on the next trip..................now I just don't know if I get myself a West coast Red Arrows version or a East coast T-45 version I still can't figure out what day or time it is will all these transcons and redeyes [:'(]
By the way............anybody have any ideas of what kind of shipping/delivery fee this should be? LOL
Just thought you may enjoy the story of what we will do to help each other out in this hobby.
Cheers,
Mark

That's a funny story Mark..can't wait to see them in the air. Knowing Glen, it will probably be up by next week.
Have a good one!

Thanks Mark. The service was great. Personallized if you ask me. The kit is excellent, very detailed.
I hope no one responds to youy Mark about the shipping cost. Carlton saw my T-45 today and will definately be ordering one.

You know I was looking at those a while ago as my next project. Seeing that you and David both are getting one, I think it might make for some good formation flying (with a bigger smoke tank this time.LOL)..hmmmmm!
What size engine are you putting in it?

Oh no..............I can see the number of boxes to carry increasing rapidly[]
Sean.....if I could only get them to make a scheduled stop in Austin on the way home I would do it for you. Unfortunately Austin is still E190 territory...but the 190's are going to be utilized on the West coast too now from what we hear. Maybe even an Austin to San Jose. Just won't be me.

LOL Billy,
I just say ..... see Billy's thread and subsitute white for red LOL. Just the speedbrake is different and add a tailhook.
Keep up the nice detailed thread. I can't imagine building that many at once.

I will be using the RTI 2800SE. That's enough power. Just to let you know Andre, I will be using a 32 oz. dubro tank with a Tamjet smoke system. I won't be having ten seconds of smoke like you. The T-45 fever is spreading. I think Mark should be paid a commission.

Nah, I just like seeing them fly. I am pretty sure Tam said P-80 size is the powerplant of choice, but of course you know Glen always wants more thrust It would probably even be fine with the SuperBee in it. Just think how much more smoke fluid you could carry then LOL.
Problem is the Hawk is a floater. More thrust also means more residual thrust. I think most will be setup with crow to help slow down. A little different with the T-45 version because the speedbrakes are on the sides and can be used for landing versus the Red Arrows one has a speedbrake on the bottom which has to be stowed for landing or it will hit......but it sure looks nice deployed on slow passes.

You know what Mark, that may not be a bad idea to put the Super Bee in it. I could definitely carry more smoke and still fly scale if it's under 25lbs...Somebody please tell
me it's under 25lbs....

Length: 87 3/4"
Wingspan: 74 1/2"
Weight: 25-27 lbs
Turbine: 17-26 lbs
Billy measurement could be more accurate.
This info from Fei Bao website.

It need at least 17 lbs thrust turbine.
It pretty good size airplane. It doesn't ton of power to fly. It just need the power to take off with fully loaded fuel and smoke.

LOL, Tam you are bad....guess we just have to go early then LOL. Notice I said we because I will need the help! It missed fitting through the conveyor Xray for me to carry it on by 1/2" so it had to go via the checked bag route which has the bigger machine since everything is x-rayed by TSA nowadays.

RE: Tam's T-45 Hawk delivery via planes, trains and automobiles
Well, its been a week since I hauled back a T-45 Hawk for Glen from Tam's shop. I had another trip out to visit and I found out earlier in the week that Glen's accessory package and pipe were ready to be shipped. Since I was heading back out there I checked with Glen and Tam and figured it would be quicker for Glen to get the parts if I brought them back with me because of shipping this time of year.
So once again I find myself be the T-45 Hawk courier from West coast to East coast.
Thia time it was a lot easier with a smaller box I could carry with me through security.
Just for kicks I decided to take some more photos of the rest of Glen's Hawk's journey from coast to coast.
First up is Tam putting the box into his giant truck for me to take back since he was dropping me off at the local train station.
Next myself and the box pretty much had the whole train car to ourselves.
Security was a bit busy as usual so not enough time there to get a photo of it on the conveyor belt for the x-ray machine but it would have been a good photo.......last thing you want to do is hold up that line or you will get an earful.
The beginning we just started out and a beautiful moonrise as we headed Eastbound but that photo didn't come out for lack of light.
As we approached Fort Lauderdale the sun was just beginning to rise.
Some of the goodies in the box.

One more shot as the box leaves the flight deck.
Waiting for a ride home as the Fort Lauderdale employee bus passes by.
A few hours rest at home and I will be headed off to Markham park for the final delivery to Glen.....This time I think he is going to run from the camera LOL
