Bobcat 50 Assembly Question
Hi,
I just received my Nitromodels BobCat 50. I ordered the fix gear version however the one I got has also the holes for installing retracts. The assembly manual is very bad and it just shows pictures of the assembly steps. I am having trouble figuring out how to install the fix landing gear on the wings, the photos shows a piece of wood that should be inserted first inside the wing, but it's not the same shape as the one included on the ARF. Any suggestions?
If I wanted to install rectracts, which brand and model of retracts should I buy that would fit?
Thanks.

RE: Bobcat 50 Assembly Question
I read the thread but couldn't find anything regarding the installation of the non-retractable landing gear. I think Nitromodels sent me the retractable ready ARF by mistake, but they included the non-retractable gear also which can't be installed. I don´t get it!
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: Bobcat 50 Assembly Question
most of the china ARF planes have fixed gear as a hardwood block with a plywood plate that is screwed together and then mounted onto the retract rails. what sort of wood did you get with your kit?? pics??

RE: Bobcat 50 Assembly Question
Please see the atached pictures and scanned copy of the manual.
I didn't uncover the rest of the retract gear cavity since I wanted to installed the fixed gear included. As you can see, the manual calls to install wooden parts inside the wings which are different in shape to the ones I have.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

RE: Bobcat 50 Assembly Question
the T shaped wood should be two pieces and not joined, the smaller one glues to the wider one after the wire is placed between it, then the whole assembly slips down into the slot on the wing.

RE: Bobcat 50 Assembly Question
If I do it that way there would be significant play between the landing gear wire and the wood since the grooves of the individual wood pieces are the same diameter as the wire. The other problem is that it would be impossible to insert the large piece inside the wing once it is glued to the smaller one. The small piece fits perfectly on the upper part of the wing so I assume that the larger one should go under the small one correct?

RE: Bobcat 50 Assembly Question
i guess I'm not typing out what i want to say clear enough you can understand it so I'll try pics, these are fixed gear for my boomerang, i made them so they'd drop perfectly into the retract rails. rather then plywood for the flex plate i used aluminum sheet for durability.
