Default Fei-Bao F-18F Inputs after Maiden

Dear Fellow jet jokeys....

I have carried out the first flights on our Fei-Bao F-18F and here are some inputs.....

A. One has to check that when the plane is on its wheels ...what is the pitch attitude ...it would be a good idea to have a positive pitch of 2~3 degrees, this will ease to unstick the plane as the main wheels positions are so far back from the C of G. I actually had to install plywood shims under the nose retract to gain this attitude.

B. The C of G is an issue of itself ...some said 140mm reward of the root L.Edge of the wing some 125mm ...some said go by Skymastyer...& co... after our flight here is my resault.... with the C of G at 140mm the plane was significantly tail heavy and required allot of down trim but still flyable however on landing it required more down trim whem flaps at landing position to keep a proper attitude of "0" picth and a 5~8 degree of AOA ( sink rate controlled by thorttle) , at 130mm the plane flew much better no down trim was required at all and on landing it was much more plesant . For the first flight One might choose to balance at 130mm .

All in all the model flys great and is a joy to operate.

Our plane was equiped with an RTI Ram 1000 at 13+kg of thrust and it was a perfect choise.

I have some questions, Iff you move the cg to 130 is it not going to be more on the tail heavy side?
What are you throw settings and did you flew it with the misslles on the wings.
What was your running distance before take off, and howe many degree did you used on the flaps.
Thanks
Gio.

No it won't, because he moved weight FORWARD to make the plane BALANCE AT 130MM. To change CG you must redistribute the weight in the plane.

Congratulations

Can you specify from which point are you measuring the 130mm (L.E of the wing at fuselage, right?)

Any images?

Thanks
Edgar

Some answers.

A. C of G measured from L.E of WING AT ROOT backwards ! Means that now it has moved relatively forward from 140 mm to 130mm!!
B. Elv high throw was set 20 degree with+ 25% expo (JR radio) and Low rate was 15 degree.
C. AIL throw was ~ +/-17 degree.
D. Flap at T/O was 10 degree
E. Flap at Landing.P was ~40 degree with 2~3 degree up ELV mix.

These settings may change in the future when I will carry out further flights to fine tune and explore the flight envelope of this plane.

Hi Lavi,

Congratulations on your maiden.

I am about to test fly mine. Still a bit missing. I am installing electronics and turbine. I will fly the p-160. For servos I am using 4 Futaba 9156 and 4 3150. running by a Weatronics receiver.
What electronics are you using?

Regards

Nuno

Lavi

Could you please give us the setup measurements in mm (measured at the most inboard position for flaps and ailerons) and for elevators, measured at the inboard trailing edge position. Just easier to measure than degrees, for me anyway

Thanks mate
