Default Panel lines

Probably a question that's been asked a thousand times on here but.............

I'm getting close to sending a composite super bandit off to paint. It's getting a sport scheme but I'd like to add panel lines. I'm planning on sending it to paint getting it back to add the panels and any additional graphics then having clear coat added.

What do you guys use?
Guessing promark could be a good route to go down?
Best results from lines of rivets or solid lines?

Any help appreciated - haven't done anything like this before!

Andrew

Andrew,

On my SB I used solid lines from promark. Easy to do and very effective.

Geoff.

Cheers Geoff - how about some photos?

Do Promark do a standard Bandit package (panel lines) or do you just order a set and lay out your own design?

Panel lines can be done with a soft mechanical pencil as well, then add rivets from Promark.

hi andrew another way is give the model a light coat of primer them get some thin fine line tape from your a car auto paint shop if you cannot get that you can use thin pin stripe put the tape where you want the panel lines to go prime the model with a wet coat of primer, when the primer is dry peel the tape off and you will have perfect panel line you can also do rivets the same way i do this on all my models and it works this way your panel line is a indent in the model as would be on full size and is easy to do you will have to work along with who ever is painting your model hope this helps you regards jonathan.

Tell your painter to sand the lines down to the tape BEFORE removing it. otherwise, 1 it may peel away from the line and 2 it makes the lines crisper. Have fun, the painted on lines are the most realistic. IMO.............

Great - thanks for the tips.

Didn't realise you could just pen or pencil them on. Although it strikes me as one of those challenges where you need to have drunk enough but not too much to have an ultra steady hand

Think I will play with a couple of techniques or a similar surface before making my final choice.
