ORIGINAL: ChrisPetersen

I received my fans yesterday from Roger!! They seem like a pretty slick set up. The four bolts that hold the turbine assembly in place secure a metal bracket with a shaft that the fan rides on. Each fan has dual bearings and spins quite easily. I blasted it with air from my compressor and it spun up insanely fast with no vibration.
My only gripe is they are extremely rough finish from being made on a 3d printer. I am a little uncertain what color to paint them.
i personally would worry about painting them and getting them un-balanced.
could you possibly dye them a grey color with rit dye and hot water? done that to nylon quite a bit.
i have a 3D printer in my shop that uses the same ABS that Mibo prints with (as far as i can tell from my LG parts that are printed also)
i can send you a bunch of ABS print stock you can experiment with if you want. the stuff is like fishing line, but ABS and a natural off white / cream color.

Fantastic airplane Stan and REALLY nice flying! I think you would have been a good full scale A-10 pilot.

Very nice Stan !!!

Are you using air retracts or are you trying the conversion to electric ?

Cheers

Thank you, Anurag, Fifou, Craig and Frankie for your compliments.
For the time beeing I'm still pneumatic as it works smooth. But I use "non-symetrical" air restrictors to slow the lowering of the wheels in order to avoid to slam them when ordering the gear down.
It could be interresting to transform the brakes into electric.
Have a look at GBRJets ( UK ) or request Geir Flesche an address.

I just finish to test the dummy turbo-fans on my A10. The effect is absolutely fantastic. They add a lot of drag, really. But the power of the 2 P160 are copping easily with that.
Next step : DECELERONS !
Best regards
Stan

Hello Guys,

someone find a solution for the small main gear door which is glued to the leg in combination with the new Behotec retract?

The new leg with the Behotec retract is in my opinion round about 1cm too high over the wing surface, so the door doesn´t fit.

regards
Joerg

you do have to remove a small square of inner door to make it clear the retract body. this is on the main, large rear door. if you look closely at the above picture you will see this square removed, filled and re-primed.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!
the wood shim is required between the rear retract bolts and the wing lower surface......this may be your issue with the small forward door fitting, if you do not have the shim in place. this would cause the leg to sit too high up front, when retracted.

exactly!!
this positions the gear correctly in the well, and all the doors fit. you will need to clearance the large hinged door's inner skin as said earlyer.
