RE: 4th gen A-10 by Mibo jets
Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of getting an A-10 for my winter project and was wondering if anyone has tried to incorporate operational speedbrakes.
There's a lot of creative people out there, and with all the mixing options on the new radios, I would think it's doable.
I guess you'd have to split the ailerons, add another servo to operate the "top aileron", and do some creative mixing.
I'm not sure if it would be worth the effort, but it sure would look neat.
BRG,
Jon

One simple option is to program 30 degrees or so of "crow" into the ailerons. After touchdown, activate the crow and both ailerons deploy up and it looks like a real A-10's split aileron speed brakes. You don't see that much of the lower (downward) half of the aileron anyway so its a reasonable facsimile.

Someone actually did that with a JH kit, has to be done while building. If you actually do it, I wouldn't actuate them in flight, you might have a big repair! However, part of the shut down after landing that they do is to actuate the brakes before shutting down, looks really cool. The above idea is good, I do that with mine, looks good. Good luck!

We are getting to the stage where turbines have to be bought for our Mibo A10. However, the instict is to go for 2 P160s or G boosters. The reason, they can be used in the future on other larger projects and are more interchangable with Rookies and Euros etc.
Has anyone put 2 160s in their A10. How did it fly particularly landing with more residual thrust than a 120.
Any thoughts or Ideas please.
Thank you

I have two 120's in my G3 MIBO, zooms around the sky at half throttle just great. I think anything larger is a waste, overkill. However, do what you like and what your budjet allows. Personally, I would take what flys it, do it, then take the rest of the money and hae a party! My MIBO weighs in at around 74 pounds, wet, yet fly's like it weighs a pound. Enjoy!

Great aircraft Graig! Good luck Warwick, let us know how you do with some pics! By the way, just a bit of fyi, the full scale A-10 is now experiencing spar fracturing and other wing problems. Not surprising, after so many years, so many G's, and great pilots!

During "normal" maneuvering we rarely pulled more than 4 or 5 g's but I guess over the years, that took it's toll also.

btw: if a european customer wants one of these M!croGuns , I have one spare n.i.b. for a good price. Sorry for non-europeans, I don´t think it would be a good idea sending it through customs.

Here is a picture of how I did the nose gear door air switch and steering servo when using the scale nose gear assy.
