Default 8uas & P-80

Does any one have the steps I will need to set up the fail safe? I have contacted Jet Cat and they will help when I have a chance to call which is great, but if any one has the directions in written form that would be even better.

Thanks
Scott

I may be able to help. I assume you are using a PCM receiver, and using the single channel function for throttle? I still use an 8UAF for one of my jets...

Futaba Super 8UAP?

In order to use failsafe, you must be using it in the PCM mode. I believe the manual can be downloaded here.

Not sure if you're still there or not, but you can basically use the same method they call out in the Jetcat instructions - set your max and min throttle for +/-75% ATV. I use my trainer switch for throttle kill, so this becomes a single channel operation per the Jetcat manual. Assuming you're using a PCM receiver, and your transmitter is set to operating in PCM, go to your F/S menu, and enter a value in channel 3 (throttle) so that you go at or below your turbine kill switch setting.

You may want to go set other control surface settings, too for failsafe, in order to slow the model down (gear down, or speedbrakes out, etc).

When failsafe is properly set, you should be able to turn your Tx off, and the little F~ Failsafe symbol will come up on your GSU.

I will be using PCM and single channel. What I am talking about is in the Jet Cat manual. They tell you how to set up the ECU and the Radio for fail safe. They say for other radios call them. I did and they are very willing to help, but I am not ready to do it right now and was hoping that some one had it documented for this radio.

I have my manual so I do not need that.

Thanks
Scott

Sorry then, I don't have anything written down specifically for the 8ua radios. The Jetcat guys probably do.
I see you're in RCFA. Good club! I was a member from about 1993 to 1997. [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Scott,

Its really easy to do for the 8U or any other Futaba radios. Simply set your end points for the throttle channel at 100%. Then go into the failsafe menu, scroll to the throttle channel, set it to failsafe (vs. hold) and set the failsafe to throttle all the way down. Now go back to the endpoint menu and set the throttle endpoints to 75%. Then just follow the JetCat manual to do the "learn RC" function.

What you are basically doing is setting up the radio and ECU so that when a failsafe occures, the throttle channel goes to a point that is OUTSIDE the normal range that the ECu sees on the throttle channel (i.e., that you "taught it" in learn RC). This is how the ECU can detect that the radio has gone into failsafe.

The 8U manual is pretty good in showing you how to do end points and failsafe, but if you have any problems, holler and I'll break out my 8U tomorrow evening and get more specific...
