I notice the wood parts and fuel tank on the Digi Tech site are for the Formost 160 and 190. What is the diference between these aircraft and will the parts fit in the 150.
Thanks

Now people will start calling it in the trade EasyJet 2, Europa 54,.... with minor mods promised. Basically : it's the same fuselage so the turbine conversion parts should be fitting on all.
The names are now even generating faster than the Chinese are able to copy their (own !) products !!! LOL

RE: What do you think of FORMOST 150 ?
After another few nights with no sleep (because of no test flight yet to test the strength of the wings ), I decided to reinforce the wings in the mid section anyway and opened the Monokote.
Now this area has at both sides carbon fiber and perhaps I'll inject some 2K polyurethane foam tomorrow after full curing of the epoxy resin...
To my pleasant surprise, the mid wing ribs holding the wing tubes were all in plywood. Finally something good !
Nicolas.

Will be covered again in white after finishing... Original Formost colour trimmings will not be affected.
Leading edge will be covered with full transparant tape to prevent the new white Oracover rectangle to be ripped off in flight.
Note that the CF is doubled where the wing tubes are located.

Is the mod on the wings a must or its something you decided to do becasue you was uncertain about the structure of the wings ?
Not trying to offend you spider just asking as am about to place my order.

RE: What do you think of FORMOST 150 ?
I knew I could expect this remark. On the photos above it looks like overkill because a flash was used from close distance on still very wet epoxy resin.
Here is how it looks now... cured and slightly sanded.
It is very similar like what you would do with a nitro .40 trainer in the wing joint middle... I do not think CF would be necessary here, glass fiber would do fine. It is only a matter of spreading the forces coming from the wing tubes. The construction of the wing looks fine (as far as I can judge through the peep holes of course). A pilot from Singapore wrecked his right hand wing recently when hitting a kerb alongside the runway at very slow speed. Would not surprise me, this is still a jet equipped with balsa sheetened wings without additional (glass+resin) protection.
Sandor from Digitech assured me this is exactly the same construction (and manufacturer) as the succesfull chinese Falcon.
Note also that this is not a full span wing but only the outer parts left and right, in fact very short wings...
Now that the resin is hard, I must say it makes a lot of difference in added strength, you can clearly see when swinging the Formost up and down that the forces are nicely spread over the entire wing. Before, I could hear the balsa and glue cracking when doing this.
Best of all would be to glass the wings completely with 40 grams/SQM like we do with all jets + some glass of 120-160 gr/SQM in the area where I have done my CF now. Afterwards, covering with Oracover again. But I am not so good with doing similar colour trimmings like the original, so I will leave it like it is now and wait for the first flight test results next Saturday.
Total weight increase was about 65 grams.
Injecting PU foam will not be necessary.
I believe to be able to test high G's now...

RE: What do you think of FORMOST 150 ?
Rich,
Very interesting remark.
I must say, what I have been doing until now looks like a lot -and it was indeed, because I wanted others to benefit of my experience too, I could have done it in a short cut-, but if you would ask me, I would confirm I would do it all over again without hesitation. I do not regret it at all. Besides, the build "research" has been done now and building one after carefully reading the whole thread must be a piece of cake for everyone.
The only bottleneck now left is : how does it really fly ????? Wished I had a friend with a good video camera !
But at least, I feel confident now about what we have been doing to make it properly work... with a turbine !
Nicolas.

Please note again this is not my kit, how should I be offended, I am only privileged due to coincidence that I am one of the first on RCU to convert this new kit to turbine power properly.

RE: What do you think of FORMOST 150 ?
I have covered the bottom of my stab with thin selfadhesive aluminium foil tape. This is real alu foil, not some kind of plastic silver tape. It is very light and used for rain pipes. There is also a much heavier type for sealing heat exhaust pipes (stoves,...) but that's not the one.
I bought this tape (2,75 m x 50 mm) from our local DIY store ( "BRICO" ) for 4,49 euro.
Excellent protection in case of wet starts...

Good luck with your maiden ! Mine will fly tomorrow (Saturday), weather forecasts are excellent for the time of the year.
The JetCat P-60 should be a perfect match for this kit : low weight, very good performance.
Let us know how it goes !

RE: What do you think of FORMOST 150 ?
If you look carefully : note that my tail booms are swapped.
Since I do not use the elevator servo openings in the tailbooms (I opted for a single elevator servo in the middle of the stab), I could swap the Left en Right tailboom, so that both of my rudder servos are now pointing inwards (instead of outwards). I thought this was a little nicer, in my case.

I like that idea! I may adopt it on my Formost.
