Dom,
Do you think covering the rear section of the turbine with the aluminum would hinder the venturi effect that is supposed to cool the pipe and also cause the turbine to run hot with higher EGTs? I see from the pictures that there is still some gap left between the turbine and the aluminum but is this enough?

I wondered the same thing, but on my A-4 and Panther I have the same thing........just under the turbine instead of on top. The bellmouth should still draw plenty of air. Only running it will tell me for sure. If I need to I can cover the servos themselves but I don't like not being able to see them for inspection before each flight.

Akaram, as I said earlier in the thread. I have been reading the thread on the jet legend L39 which is 97 inches long and 74 inch span. If you you search for it and have a read near the end of the thread there is a guy from belgium flying one from grass and he is taking off in 40m. Considering this one is smaller I cannot see any problems. When I get mine I plan to fly off a 70m grass strip which I think will be fine.

Hi Dom
thanks for sharing the building with us, it helps alot
ok.. here is a picture of my engine installation, do you think my engine is way to back ?
I had to put 0.5 pound of led in the nose to balance it.

Salah.
I looked at the pictures. It looks like you did not trim any of the intake away and that forced you to put the P-70 farther back than mine. I cut much of the intake away. I based my P-70 position on the length of the pipe. I like it to be flush with the rear of the fuse. Once you have that established you just work backwords to determine the proper location of the turbine. Is your pipe sticking way out in back? I would redo it like mine if I were you. The turbine is closer to the C.G. and you will need less weight in the nose. I also could not live with the pipe sticking out the back. I know we all hate to do rework, but moving the P-70 forward will not be that bad.

I also insulated the top rear section of my hatch. Just completed the routing of my air lines and servo lines. You have to be careful here since you don’t want to get any lines in the way of the landing gear. I also routed them in a way that would not interfere with the fuel tank installation. I needed to make a structure to zip tie my wires to so I constructed it with 1/8" X 1/4" bass strips. I then painted them white. Notice how I routed my wires through the bulkhead near the turbine. This keep things clear of the main wheel. A very neat install is a must for me.

I have been following your build with interest, as I also have one of these L-39's. Mine however is a kit and it is possibly the first off the production line with a new and different stab / rudder arrangement. It has a one piece stab. Wagner tells me he is just about to receive a container of L-39's that has this newer updated stab, so for those of you who are "about to receive", here are a couple of pics of the new updated "rear end " that I have just had emailed to me from the factory.I have inculded a pic of my stab as well. I did not have any assembly infomation when I received my kit, and while it was quite simple to work out that the new one piece stab had to be removable to get at the servos, I was awaiitng confirmation of just how they had assembled it. I am personally not in favour of the single bolt idea, and will probably run with two bolts for added security, but am open to being convinced that one would be adequate.
I have ordered 2 x JR9411 servos which will fit the available space, Std size servos will not fit.

Dom - a question - some posts ago, you mentioned that you used bolts and blind nuts to mount the landing gear instead of screws....in my kit there is no way I could get at putting blind nuts there , as the mounting block arrangement for the undercart interferes - did you have to cut away any ply to do this ? if not, then my mounting blocks may have been uprated.
