David - is PST making a T37? You mentioned that in your post above. If so, do you have more info?

Hello Jeremy,
I pick this up at FL Jets this past March after the original owner had a minor landing mishap. [X(][X(]

Yes the rear section of the main fuselage took the brunt of the crash damage, also the clear canopy and the right wing tip.

The wing is now repaired; however, the live hinge for the aileron has been damage beyond repair so I removed the surface and have to decide if I want to repair with robart hing points or re-make a live hinge using the CA type of hinge material.

Got to love fiberglass fuselages...so easy to repair!

Turbine is a Jet Central Super Eagle...it should push it along

That JC Super Eagle should do the trick, cool... Keep the info coming, and all the best...

Maybe this has been already mentioned...although I didn't see it.
Anyhow it deals with the removable Stab and Fin assembly on the Reaction X.

If you follow the plan you would route your servo wire down through the stab....this doesn't make sense as it defeats the removable stab feature unless you remove the fin...which would entail removing the heat shield and hatch cover to gain access to the front fin stud and nut attachment point.
As I don't want to have to remove the fin I came up with an alternate servo lead routing.

My solution was to drill an internal hole in the fin to allow the servo lead to route to the front of the fin where there is an access hole right behind the stud. I then routed a slotted hole in the fuselage to allow the servo lead access.

Now I can remove the stab by sliding back to disengage the pins then slide side ways to remove without touching the fin.

This is sort of hard to see, the view is from the original servo lead access hole looking up to see the balsa sheer web that is located in the fin, I took an extra long drill bit to make the access hole

Hi Rich,

Your pics of the painted fuz look great, wouldnt know its been broken... Now your post on Tailplane and fin removal...
The Fin has a aluminium tube, which plugs down thru the stab, into a alum socket, plus the stud and nut at the front end...
So that would stop one from sliding the stab out, leaving behind the fin !!! Do you not have the Alum Tube ???
If not, then there is not much to support your fin...

Regards Jeremy.

Jeremy,
The Alum Tube and socket are just in front of where the stab keys into the fuselage so the fin does not capture the stab, at least it is that way on my X version which was built at the factory sometime after October 2009., see photo.

This is why I was wondering why the factory would route the servo lead through the stab, it defeated the purpose of making it easily removable.

The other thing I plan on doing is mounting the Elevator servo in the back, I hate long control rods, they belong on .40 size trainer planes.

Hi Rich,

Yea your rite there, my BAD... Makes sence then to move the servo lead out to the front, good idea...
Servo down the back is also good, only downside is moving more weight aft, but on the X version not so bad...

What did you end up doing to fix your wing hinge you mentioned ???
When you think its going to fly ???

Jeremy.

Jeremy
I used Robart Hinge points, I used Hysol to glue in doubler blocks on the trailing edge of the wing.

I hope to fly within the next two weeks, I ordered some parts today from Dreamworks as soon as I get them I will be real close to completion.

RCISFUN, Hi,

Looking awsum, you done a great job of putting it back together, and the paint job to...

What sort of crash did it have to break up like that, cartweel maybe ??? Given your rebuild, do you have any suggestions,
As to areas inside the fuz, that could do with some extra glass for strength ??? Im at that stage with my build rite now, just looking to see if i should
put some more glass cloth around...

Cheers Jeremy.

Hello Jeremy,
I didn't see the crash...only afterwords, I have been told it bounced off of a tent before hitting the ground.[X(]
I was thinking exactly the same thing, what are the odds of only breaking the rear section, the canopy and one wing tip.

I don't think you need to beef up anything...building for crash is not a good idea

She is a bit porky now, it weigh 29 LBS dry, so I guess I gained about 3 LBS with the repair and paint.[X(][X(][X(]
However I don't think it will care with a Jet Central Super Eagle in it

everyone Raves over how good the wing lift is, and 26 to 28lb seem the norm... ENJOY, Keep us posted on how the maiden goes...

Jeremy,
The tent was behind the flight line at a jet rally..... a high gusting cross wind happened around the same time as the landing approach and the rest is history[X(]

Here are a couple of photos of the install, I still need to make my tray graphics.

The Du-Bro 32 oz tank will be for my smoke system when i install it.
The plane came with the big 3.8 L (128 oz) main tank which feeds the air trap
