Default Using a foreign language prohibited in RCU?

This was news to me... just received a email notifying that a post of mine was deleted because I used a foreign language:

While I usually write in English, is some occasions I use other language to help or even talk in other cultures terms to comunicate in more precise terms ... for example, a guy from Venezuela posted a pic of his Byron F-16 without English knowledge (kudos to him) using a terrible electronic translator and I used Spanish to warm him from a potential problem he had in his linkages. In other recent occation I used Portuguese to congratulate some jet guys in Portugal about their next event.

I was really surprised with this attitude from a RCU moderator, and it triggered a red light on my panel... if a comercial or political attitude is taking out my freedom away to talk and help others to enjoy our hobby, a corrective measure must be taken, from any of the parts envolved.

So now I am kind of waiting a official position on RCU on this subject, to see if this a new 2008 house rule or if it was just a moderator issue...

Sorry for my rant to all my friends here, Enrique.

This is why RCU is so boring for the past year or so, you can't say anything anymore...

They way some guys spell on this forum how could the moderator tell if it's English or not...

I'd say if you are going to post in another language be nice to us less educated knuckle-draggers and include a translation so we can follow the thread.

Enrique
If it is a RCU rule it Sucks !!!! You and others who use english (not ones native tongue) on this forum should be commended, not deleted . If it X rated in that language, by all means delete it .
Moderators should delete some of the post written in good old english. (States english ).......[][] the education system in the "states " has gone down the tubes, no child left behind ,What a Joke ! []

Hear, Hear...........................
I already do that... if not is because I suppose that is not as urgent or important matter to take you attention, but If needed
I can do it in every non-english note I may write here...

U.Joe and Johnny: We don´t deserve to be commended .. it is fun to use English as it is a very spread language in the world, and you can use it in almost any place not to mention the Internet. However the important thing is not what language you use, but the idea you are trying to transmit, and censorship , deleted post ,etc.. are a sign that something wrong is happening.

I agree with you Mike.
The way things are going in England, i think it will be that English will become the second language.

[>:]Enrique, I take it the same moderator deleted your post on the Byron thread? Mine was deleted also. [:@]

All we were doing was trying to make a new RCU member feel "welcome". We did not turn the thread into Telemundo.

it is not (envidia) jealousy, many of us here in the US are bilinguals like me, but out of cortesy we like to know what's going on on that thread and maybe learn something new from it. I have known Enrique Here on RCU for a long time and welcome his imput any time as he has demostrated in the past he has lots of knowlege. From time to time he has reply to some of our friends from the south ( South America ) on their native language because it permits a better comunication, most of the time I can fallow the conversation but some times not, it usually doesn't go for longer than a frase ot two and I'm OK with that.

My two cents.

It was just a joke... I'm just refering to the moderator that deleted Enrique's post, not the rest of the audience. I agree that everything should be translated, otherwise we will end up in Babel

I'm not saying I agree but we all need to remember this site was designed to make money. It is not a "freedom" of ours or a "right" of ours. It is a dictatorship and if the owners see something they don't like or think it might cause them to lose money and they put a stop to it...the only recourse is to not come on the site anymore.
I would rather put up with some of the stuff I don't like than to quit coming here.

I'm afraid in this case they have the bat, the ball AND the glove besides having the ball park too.
