Behzad:

The DA120 is a very nice engine and will give the Marchetti plenty of power. There are a couple of videos in Youtube of a Yellow Marchetti flying with a DA120 from a grass field.

Have you seen the video of the Tucano with the new SPT-10 ? Maybe that would be a good combo for your field.

http://youtu.be/SaLm4ZEUKpc I love the design of the Tucano and it has always been one of my favorite designs (this is my second Tucano), but it has a tendency to fly with a low tail and it just looks strange in the air. If you fly it faster you don't notice it too much but for sure in slow speed passes it looks like the airplane is seating in its tail.

The Marchetti doesn't have that problem and it's a great flyer in all range of speeds. The problem is that it doesn't look as scale as the Tucano on its design.

Has anybody figured out the prop situation on the SPT-10/Tucano. That's one of the only things holding me back from getting one (and $!)

Bielas 24 x 12 and 24 x 14 are being used in the SPT-5's...... so it doesn't seem right that they are also used in the SPT-10.

Having said that, I was looking at Bielas website and I found that the have a 24 x 12 - 4 blade prop for the SPT-10

Hi Gonzalo

Thank you. the Video looks great. I also like the design of Tucano better. I feel Marchetti is a little too fat around the cockpit area. I am half way through the build of Skygate Hawk. one of these probably come after that.

Thanks again.

Biela will do any size as a TP prop, I've had 25 x 12 3 blade as a TP, The SPT-10 will just drive a prop like that without loading if you set the PRPM to suit a tip speed you want.

We fly Tucano's from grass most weekends, no issues.

Fifou:

As I said earlier, the best way to see where the nomenclature of the different Tucano schemes go is to go to a page like airliners.net

Try this link for some pictures http://www.airliners.net/search/phot...mbnails=noinfo

If I receive any placement drawings, I would have no problem on sharing.

Bevar,

Is that a straight drop in where the 5 came out?

Jan,

In a word...no. I am using a new mount because my old one was damaged but still, it would not have been a drop in.

The front mount is the same but the P-100 is fatter that the P-60 so the mount in the rear had to be widened for it to fit. Also, the air duct/tube from the firewall is too small for a P-100 so that is modified as well. That pretty much is it though...nothing else to do motor wise.

I have the first made 24/14 4 blade prop for the Tucano. Unfortunately...it wont fit...sort of.

The hub and blades are so big the spinner required would be a 6 inch spinner...way too big for the Tucano, which uses a 4.75 inch spinner.

Bummer...

I just received these photos from my good friend/builder, A J Lee. It was a camo gray and we thought we'd spruce it up a bit using the 2014 RAF demo flight Tucano that was patterned after a Squadron in Northern Africa in 1941. The last picture is the actual full scale aircraft getting ready for an airshow. Should be a lot easier to see now!!! Hope you like.

We haven't yet. We are going to move batteries around (forward), replace the "alien" pilots and put in a scale pilot along some other little stuff. It always seems to fly a little tail heavy low even when the CG is spot on, doesn't it?

Follow Boli's advice on CG and add some extra weight after the plane is balanced according to factory instructions. You will see a huge difference on how the plane handles........ I think he recommends 12 oz of lead in the nose of the plain but I just used 8 oz.

By the way..... nice scheme. In mine, I decided to go with the 2012 Tucano Display scheme.

We've flown this plane many times and have already adjusted for a forward CG earlier. This is just a paint freshen up not a new build. Just thought you all would want to see the new colors...

Looks great. Patrnflyr. Didn't know the Africans flew the Tucano.

I'm still building mine. Ended up with the older red display scheme but that's partially as it was available at the time and the rest were months out. I am thinking doing the same and repainting next winter in a military scale scheme.

Heres a pic of one I really like:

(ok, I know, it is prolly a Super Tucano but I really want one with the "teeth" on the nose....)

I have discovered a side effect of painting your Tucano. You might burn the paint off of the tops of the wings, especially the right wing. I had no problems over hundreds of flights with the molded paint scheme but after repainting in the off season I now am burning the paint/clear coat off the tops of the wings.

It may be because the -10 puts out so much more power/exhaust heat than the -5 and/or because of the way I had the stacks cut. I have changed the cuts on the stacks as well as shortened them in the hopes that the heat plume disperses better now.

I have two friend's who painted their Tucano's and ended up with the same issues.

Beave

PS. However..enjoy the pics! LOL
