Suggestions for MW44 'green' airframe
I have an old Wren MW44 'green' 7lb engine sitting here not doing anything. I need suggestions for good airframes for it as it shouldn't be left to sit on the ground!! Most of the models that I have seen recently look perfect for the gold but maybe a little on the heavy/large side for the older engine.
I already have a Savex L39 and have had a Savex F16 so those aren't options.
Other than those, what airframes would you recommend for this engine? Anything goes really, but ideally it would be ARF and fairly good quality.

Comp ARF Spark, I seem to remember Dave Wilshire saying he dialled his P60 powered one down to 7Lbs and it still flew well.

Contact Jet Hangar www.jethangar.com for their F86/FURY. I have a green Wren on my Fury. It flies well. It's an ARF and all you need are the L/G from Robart, wheels and brakes from BVM.
You can go to youtube and do a sear on "JHI F86H" something like that to see how this bird fly. It flies scale with green Wren 44, but a hot dogger with the gold.

I have just bought a Goldcat 54 (Falcon 120) I know it is reccomended to use a 54 size turbine but past experience tells me it will fly ok on the green 44. Not a rocket but a nice easy flying jet at around 11lbs dry. I will use a set of spring airs I have spare, a 1 litre tank and no digital servos for a very cheap turbine model. It costs £180 from Colchester A1 Models and the quality is fine for the money, it is retract and flap ready out of the box. Not a Bobcat but only 1/10th of the price.

From the experiences of our customers, I've been told that the AMD Hawk is "marginal" on an older 44 and overweight on a 54 but it flies beautifully on a Gold 44 - it's a really good match. I think you'd be disappointed with it on an older 44.
The Goldcat 44/Nitroplanes Bobcat 50 is definitely a good match for the older engines. The Spark is another good one - Andreas at Comp. ARF flies one with a Gold 44 but it doesn't need the extra power.
I believe that almost all the JetHangar planes will fly very scale on an older 44.

My friend Xantos recently bought a all composite vampire. I cant remember who manufactures it but can find out if your interested.
I think it should fly very well on the old 44, and that's what we intend putting in there. The kit is all composite.

I've maidened an A7 from JHi last month, flew well on the autostart green. the aircraft is not fitted with brakes, has no rudder, uses mini servos and lipo batteries to keep weight down.
Mike I'm not sure on the availability of the F86, but it sure would make a great combination.
Cheers

Florent,
Yes, it's available if you tell Larry that you want to have a basic ARF Fury Kit. you will get it in painted version, you will still need to get exhaust pipes, wheels and brakes, and Robart retracts. These are commonly available from local hobby store.
I got a batch of it F86H and FURY for our club members. No manual, but it was easier enough for us to figure out how to install it. We plan to start up a building threat for it. This plane flies great on the Wren 44 7 pounder.

I am in the same situation. I have a Simjet 700 that has about 7.5 lbs of thrust. It is not in an airframe at the moment. I put the 44Gold in my L39 and the Simjet has been idle ever since. The 700 was a good running engine when I took it out. I just wanted the extra few lbs of thrust. I was thinking about the Boomerang mini when ever it becomes available. It would be a fun little jet that would do well with this engine class. I have a friend that is flying the intro on a 44 gold so I am sure the mini would do fine on 7 lbs

Not sure you can get it right now, but I'm flying the Grumania SU27 on an old Simjet 700 which has about the
same thrust as the green machine. It flies great and really "grows" in the air, so it's a cool plane to have for
weekend flying!

Thanks guys, some good suggestions there. Keep them coming.
The Grumania SU27 is probably my favourite but is not available at the moment. Apparantly when it does come out it will be silver or grey which is a bit of a pain as I quite like the painted version.
The Spark probably fits the bill second but I think it looks a bit ugly and I don't think a turbine conversion is available. I'm not sure I like the idea of spending that much on a model and then having to figure it out myself.
The Fox Composite Hawk looks quite good but I think it is a bit too big for the 7lb engines. The Schubeler Hawk looks good too but I would like to see some more pictures (or ideally someone else try a conversion) before I have a go.
Decisions, decisions[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

No, actually I have just bought a 44 Gold myself, it will eventually end up in a Savex L-39, but
first I will put it in the SU27 and fly some cool maneuvers with it. The SU flies great with the
Simjet 700, but it would fly even better (and probably unlimited verticals) with the 44 Gold!
Get it up in the air!!
