Ok guys how many of you out there have built or are building the skymaster L39?
I'm almost done with my assemly and really concerned i'm not getting the 30mm on the elevators, or the 25mm on the ailerons[&o] , the most i'm getting is 20mm.
Except for that one little annoyance the plane is great, finish is well done, somebody put some time and effort, atleast into mine, And guess what? All except for one of the control hard points were there..I put it on the scale today and for the size it came in at mere 26LBs for the size i would have guessed at least 28Lbs, with my p120 that should be ggggggrrrreeeeat!!!. Anyway help with the throws please....

You are definitely going to need at least 25mm on elevator and more if you can. 25mm on aileron is fine. You also need at least 40mm on flap.
It flies great and you can comfortably move the CG back 10mm. Only do this after you have had a couple of flights. The plane is quiet difficult to slow down with the forward CG but flies great.
The springs on the undercarriage are really soft and bottom out when fueled up. The problem is if you increase the sping tension you loose the positive incidence on the wing and have to extend the nose leg by putting spacers under it and then you have to change to a 100 degree retract unit.

Kevin my guess is that the top and bottom skins are hindering you from getting the desired travel, you will need to trim them back about 2 to 3mm to get the travel you desire.

@ jet docter, i can easily get 25mmor more up on the elevator but only 20mm down, on the aileron i can nly get 22mm down on both, flaps arent an issue, Thanks for the tips.
@ 3dhelinut, i can only trim the bottom, which i have but the live hinging itself restrict downtravel so for eg. on the aileron i have to restict positive travel on both ailerons to make the up and down travel the same up and down.
@ Edgar, the only changes i'm making on this one is to get some servo hatches from Tbm and mount the aileron servos that way the way skymaster recomends is no good if you want to keep your plane. Pipe is suspect, as usual only one call to be made, Otherwise one of the best skymaster models i have purchased (and i have a few). I'll post pics tonight.
Thanks
Kevin

Kevin I am also building an L39. My servos on the ailerons appear to be solid in their mounts. What is your concerns with them?
PS My friend was flying his today. Absolutely graceful model!
Cheers

Hi Kevin
You only need 25mm up and more to flare for landing. During flying 20mm is more than enough. When you move the CG back you will need less elevator as well.

sonicboom, when mounted per the instructions the side of the wings opposite the servo hole the servos are mounted on flexes. and thats with minimal pressure.
Oh and i left off the retracts were missing parts, hope skymaster usa can help with that, 22 ounces is what it took to balance even with the cg 130mm 5 mm back from recommended [:@], I really can't stand adding weight to a plane, Anyone else flying or seen one flying have any idea how much weight you had to add?
Kevin
BTW motor is moved as much forward as possible. the plane just limps to one side even with a screw.
