Default wren Vs Jet Joe

As many of you know both my birds are still ICDF. JHH F86 and Old Yeller.
in the very near future are going turbine and I know wren is a very good turbine and was wondering if Jet Joe was up to par in quality, if so my budget will be for only one turbine.
should I go wren or get two JetJoes, what are your thoughts on this.?

A quality Wren in the hand is worth two JetJoes down in the bush...

If you want, an excelent quality product, performance, no messing about, that will work day in day out, with aftersales service second to none (in the USA now as well).
There is only one choice.

This is a joke-right? Find one JJ that is reliabily (that has not had 6 hrs of post production tuneing) flying in the US. The only place they seam to work is in Australia. Scott

Wren and JJ shouldn't even be placed in the same sentence. oops just did it. lol - really, there is NO comparison between the two. JJ has a horrible reputation for putting out some of the most crappy turbines in the market. They are only advised if you are into trying to fix problems the whole time. If that person is you then JJ is the right engine.

Otherwise, as others have said:

Get he JJ..Oh wait.. You want it to fly an airplane, not a test stand... Get the Wren then. Remember "JJ for those that would rather fiddle than fly"

You are being unfair to the Yugo. I know people who have Yugos that sometimes run!

You READ a lot about JJ, but hardly ever see them flying anywhere in the real world. I know some of them can, and have flown, but it is a very small % of the total produced....

Hey Skywalker,

Get you the Wren and then get the electronics for another one, so all you have to do is swap the turbine from jet to jet.. Thats what I am doing with one of mine...

LOL !! Personally, I think the only times & places where we tend to hear flurries of "these turbines are awesome and run great" reports, is when some new guy decides to take on the task of being JJ's latest mouthpiece.

I recall when the first guy came on RCU desperate to announce having set up the deal to bring 'affordable quality turbines' to us. It lasted only a few hours before he deleted the content of all of his posts and made a retraction saying that he no longer wanted to have anything to do with JJ.

Then there was the Kentucky season … Justin in Kentucky taking on being the main JJ-USA guy despite his lack of experience ; all those KY buddies of his were feverishly posting on here telling us how wonderful these turbines were, and that the only people who couldn't get them to run were the idiots who didn't want to give the product a decent chance. Ya know - it's bad enough when people shill for a product that actually works, but all of the shilling for such a piece of crap just because their friend was trying to make money was pretty low IMO. Seems like half of the people doing the shilling didn't even have a turbine-powered aircraft, and were plugging it based on reportedly having got one to run on a bench for a brief moment. Hmmm … why did they suddenly all go so quiet about these truly wonderful turbines that were reportedly about to put everyne else out of business ? (I'm asking about reasons other than that Justin dropped his JJ commercial aspirations and started flying Jetcat)

I forget who all else has been on the bandwagon since then, but once all the reports about "JetJoes really work – they are great" started coming out of Oz some months ago, I figured it was only a matter of time until we saw that someone in Oz had taken over the task of trying to make JJ's a commercial success and having all of his buddies plug it on RCU … and sure enough, that's what had happened.

I'm just waiting to see who, in which country, will be the next loud evangelists when the current guys get tired just like all of their predecessors did.

Still, ya gotta hand it to JJ – they have given us a lot to talk about.

Gordon

Consider the PST J600R as well. Very reliable, good power, decent spool time, and a very reasonable cost. Not to knock the Wren by any means, but if that is the size engine you're looking at (14lbs) the PST is one of the most cost effective reliable engines out there.

The only place they seam to work is in Australia.
I have been to quite a few Aussie jet fly-ins and have only ever seen one Jet Joe, & I must say it appeared to run o.k.
A friend had a JLT turbine (same thing) which ran poorly & eventually self destructed after very little running.
The local distributor had a JLT in a Grumman Panther ARF along with another Panther with a 91 ducted fan at a large scale fly in recently. The turbine appeared to be struggling to keep up with the DF version & eventually had a 'cease to function'.

my budget will be for only one turbine.
should I go wren or get two JetJoes, what are your thoughts on this.?
My thoughts? Do you want one engine that runs well or two that don't? - John.

The one true thing you can say about the JetJoe, is that it will last you forever, it may not run, and it prolly won't fly your plane, but you will never be able to get rid of it.
DO yourself a favor and buy the Wren if those are your two choices. I have owned the PST600R, a great engine and would not hestiate to own another. I have an Artes SuperBee, another great little engine with excellent customer service and alifetime warranty. I have not owned a P60, but I do own a P80, and the JetCat brand is excellent and has agood service program as well. The AMT 180 is a powerhouse, and is very realiable. With Ron Ballard here in the US now representing Wren, you have so many choices in good engines, consider your purchase like an investment, and take the advice of those who have been where you are now, go with a proven engine and stay away from the JJ.
I am not a rep for any company, and this is just my two cents.

You may want to consider the Jet Central "Rabbit"
