Default Virus ?

I am getting a virus warning on Norton on accessing the home page that it is trying to download 'downloader trojan'. Anyone else getting the same message?

I can confirm that I started having MAJOR problems starting late yesterday.....8/8/08

RCU appears different, with strange borders and the marketplace is unusable. Nearly everytime I try to logon to RCU, it crashes Internet Explorer. I have tried to reset IE7 to no avail.

Every page I open brings up a trojan horse virus warning. My avast virus program gets rid of the virus & it is still possible to use RCU, although it is a pain.

Well I might get infected them. I was having a lot of headeach with my antivirus. Havent install the new one yet. And yesterday when I onpened the RCU webpage I recive a popup of the office 2003 intalation problem. It was trying to reinstall the office. So I close everything. And forget abot the comp. Today RCU open with no problem. But my comp may be is sick.[&o]

I have our development team working on this. A group of hackers from china launched an attack last night and again this morning. The repeat told me this was probably not a one time deal so I have our team working on securing all our code against this type of attack as I type this. Everything is online and we should have code in place shortly. Hopefully they are sleeping there and will give us some time to get this code in place before their next hit which is likely they will attempt repeatedly now.

also...this time it was not our forum database..it was the db that handles everything outside the forum. however on our forum homepage we show those magazine reviews which are served off the other db and also in forums we sometimes show the featured classified ads which serve from that db too. that caused some spillover when viewing the forums but we didn't lose any data nor was the forum database affected. the forum db was secured in our forum codebase when we had that round of hacks a couple months ago. our other db was never injected until yesterday. the injections just put in bogus data and links to virus. a PIA as it requires us to rollback the other db to last known state. 1st time we caught it within the hour so almost zero loss of data. this morning we caught it about 4 hours later but fortunately not much activity from 5am to 8am est on saturday

we have some code in place for some obvious exploits already pushed live. we'll be adding more through the day to raise the security walls.

also we will be upgrading our forums in the next couple weeks. we already have performed the dry run of the upgrade and are completing some modifications of the code. the new forum will have some very cool features, fewer page refreshes in many areas, easier management of subscriptions, wysiwyg editor and lots more.

we are all clean right now so hopefully none of the attacks will succeed as we continue to put up additional code to close the exploits down. we have the major one in place which was the cause of the attack last night. they made over 20,000 attempts with this technique on our servers!
