Hey Darcy,

Any news on this project? Is it moving along?

All, I have purchased the upgrade wing kit to convert my classic Lightnin to Ultra. But I found no space anymore to pass the air lines and cables from the front half of the wings, infront of the wing tube.

ANy ideas or pics how to do this instead of making another hole in the Lightning fus behind the wing tube?

Thanks alot, Tassos

In my UL wings I dremeled a hole to pass through below the wing socket. It was not an easywire pull with 5 airlines and 2 servo leads. I made a seperate hole for the servo leads.

Can you please post a pic quist? And can you please take a pic of the aileron linkage to show me how you ve done it because it looks to me that for the UL wing the servo sits "deeper in the aileron servo bay opening than the Classic Lightning.

As for Lasse, I think this competition between the Bandits and the Lightnings is becoming epic. But is this just but just because of the "ultra"?

Tassos,

You are correct about the aileron linkage. I didn't like how long the linkage was so I put a carbon sleeve over the all thread. I did this on the Rudder and Elevators also.
The Ultra Bandit is an awesome plane, but I don't think it is worth the extra $7000. I also don't think it will fly as well on the titan se motor.

Got it now.

Thanks alot quist, I was planning to do the same thing in the linkages but to use brass tube instead of carbon to strengthen it.

For sure the BVM models are great but $7000 more? I'd buy a second Lightning in different colour scheme just not to get borred like the one of this post: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_82...tm.htm#8237546.

Here's mine: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_82...tm.htm#8265662

Thanks again

Nikko,

Actually there's a guy at my field selling his. He wants $300 though. A little pricey if you ask me, but like you said, they are tough to find.

Your Comp-Arf Rep should be able to get them. Look under the older style Lightning, Related Products, Retracts, then Spare Parts... direct link here... http://www.composite-arf.com.hk/ar/Product?630515

I need a help.

If you have a choice of Jet 1a or Comp-stock landing gear , What would you pick???

The stock one seems nice too. Is that a lot heavier than Jet 1a????

Thank you

Nikki Ko

We are running the new Comp arf trailing link gear. I have no idea whole makes these struts. They don't look as nice as the Jet 1A gear but they are working perfect. We are going to get rid of the Interairco tires and put on the BVM Mig 15 tires. They are 4" narrow tires. It may be a pain to screw the BVM tires in place, but they don't leave the rim.

Yeahhhh!!! My UL is finally ready!!
Hopefully I will maiden this bird next week.
Final weight is 31.8 lbs with a full UAT and 5,3 oz lead in the nose. Hopefully its not to heavy.
I use a Jetcat titanium thrust tube but still needed the lead to get the recommended C.G. (15mm behind the front edge of the geardoor).
Strange as they advertise no lead is needed.
Anyway, will be blast to fly!!
