Well, , , , that was a waste of footage.
Get one of those passes by Shulman. I watched him fly last year at Bay of Quinte. That's footage worth watching!

You can hear the turbine shut down after it flew thru the tall grass/brush as it passed the camera.

I just don't get it.
I played it in slow motion a bunch of times.
A jet comming in, , , compared to the vehicle in the backgound, by the headlights maybe a jeep, it doesn't look very low.
Then a whoooshing noise, that can be added in/remixed from just about anything. Then a camera shot looking up at the sky.
Just can't realistically put an estimate to any altitude.
Is it one of those things, that you had to be there to know what happened???

And, , , , your point is, , ,
Would the spell check help me to see something different??
Not that it's a bad mastery, in that regards it's pretty good.
But without some kind of reference to gage it to, , , , ???

I was there about 40 feet to the side, assisting the cameraman. The altitude of the F4 was about 8 feet.

Well, , , 8 feet from an eye witness, , , that's certainly getting on the low side for something moving probably well over 120 mph.
Good shot by the cameraman!

The amazing crash by Shulman was pretty darn low, and you could tell by the background.
Simple, when I first saw this one, I couldn't see any fixed reference.
An eye witness is the only real reference.
Quite a rare, and daring shot, very good indeed. I certainly wouldn't want to be out there.

The speed of the jet was probably about 160. It was fast! Cliff is really good behind the lens.
Here's a photo of our vantage point at an earlier LA Jets. For the F4 shot, we constructed a metal barrier right down the centerline about 50 feet past the end of the runway, right at the edge of the weeds. As his spotter, I was located at the corner of the chain link fence.

Most if not all low fly-bys I have ever seen, Joe Nall, Florida Jets, Bay of Quinte, etc, etc, there has always been something in the background as a positive reference, and you could clearly see the aircraft go by without question to altitude.

OK, NOW I get what it was that U didn't get...
The point here was NOT "look at this 2 inches off of the ground mach 2 pass". It was all about the ANGULAR velocity (look it up if need be) brought about by the model's proximity to the camera and enhanced by the abrupt doppler shift.
Several of us among the great unwashed, naive, and impressionable masses were, I dare say, well entertained by this "waste of footage" without wondering whether the sound was faked or the altitude could be "referenced" or "verified by an eyewitness".
Thanks again to the poster for the vid !!

Are you nuts??? That was extremely dangerous and irresponsible. One error and the cameraman would be dead. This same effect could have been done by simply propping up the camera. What are you trying to do prevent us all from enjoying this great hobby?

Sorry if I don't see what I'M SUPPOSED to see.
With a possible few thousand eventual viewers you'll always have variations of opinion. I guess you don't like that.

A steel barrier might help for the immediate strike, but what about the big spash of flaming kerosene that's still travelling with momentum.

I thought it was cool, smoke and mirrors or not. I started the video and my dog even came in and whatched it, I pointed the plane flying by in slow mo. and he whatched it and cocked his head sideways. That was worth whatching it. Thanks for the post Kriptonic69, very intertaining.
