Default RED FLAG

This short movie is OFF DA HOOK. Incredible footage. Its about 48 minutes long but awesome.
It features red flag excercises at Nellis AFB. Check it out.

I saw this last night on a HD channel. It was awesome. I liked the A-10's and the aggressor F-16's

I bought this movie in HD about a year ago and i thought it was pretty good. A little corny in spots, mostly due to the "tool" they decided to be their pilot to follow. The coolest i thought was the CSAR portion that showed the downed aircrew member and how a situation like that is resolved. It brings back memories from S.E.R.E training. Enjoy the video. Nick

Hey Nick how's it going...

This is the film that is shown at the Wright-Patterson Air force Museum IMAX theater, they had all the pilots who attended the D.O.G.S. show this past August go over to the museum and see this movie.

Most of the reason you get the feeling. That pilot was an F-15C pilot who they took and put in an F-15E for the video. He had no experience with the F-15E mission (bomb dropping, low level etc.) It's a shame they didn't just use the Mudhen's pilot.

Thanks for sharing that. It was probably the single coolest vid I have ever seen on the net. I really needed to see this video during these times where hate mongering people are constantly bashing Americans and trying to make us feel inferior. This was awe inspiring and watching it makes me respect the fine men and women who lay their lives down every day to protect our country.

Thank you to all who serve or have served our country in the miltary.

Andy

I found it unwatchable. I would have preferred an actual documentary on Red Flag exercises to that Hollywood-ized mess.

I think what you find is the "General Public" like the movie.

Those of us in the Military found it full of the typical hype and crap and not realistic at all.

Its all in what you don't know that makes it good

Threshold is my favorite video, spectacular inflight video of the F-4J Blue Angels. Some of the narration is cheezy but you quickly ignore the talk because the inflight video from the cockpit is so good.

Absolutely, although the Discovery Channel's mini-series "Blue Angel - A Year in the Life" was incredible as well.

Sweatpea01, you hit the nail right on the head. It's the horrible inaccuracies that make this such a poor representation. When I was a kid, I was around Red Flag, and the US Navy Fighter Weapons School a lot due to my father's work with Cubic Corp, and the Tactical Air Crew Training System (Although it was called the ACMR system back then) he designed for them. So when I see movies like this it just makes me cringe. The director apparently LOVED the look of flares, since every aircraft is just crapping them out continuously in nearly every scene.

Andy, I disagree with you in that I'm jaded. Why is it so hard to present things accurately?

Do the men and women who put their lives on the line daily some justice, show them the respect they deserve, and do the damn movie the right way. Of course.. that's just my own jaded opinion.

Sweetpea, i thought the pilot sucked because of cheesy dialogue. A "Heavy" pilot could have done it better.

Not bad, I can see what your talking about though Doug. Pretty cheesy, and the CG parts were very "gameish". Some of the raw footage was good though.

Oh I agree with you on that one.

But part of the reason the dialogue was cheesy was because the pilot didn't know the dialogue. Alot of people think that becuase its an F-15 the "speak" is the same. Its actually quite different because the missions are vastly different. Not only that but the F-15C is an Air-Air fighter while the E is the Air to Ground. If the C could do the E's job then they wouldn't have paid for the aircraft to be changed.

Overall the movie was OK......but more realistic would have been better, but would it have sold?.........probably not.
