RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
What siclick said, plus I think the rebound on your strut is a bit slow, normally its the compression that is slow and the rebound that is fast to keep contact with the ground to allow steering, otherwise I can see oscillations building up and the nose bouncing around, just a thought.

RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
They sponge mate...same as the baby booma I had changed em out every 50 flights or so landing on Tarmac ...but yes looking for rubber ones right now too
and the rebound is just air and a small rubbish spring to show the travel not the final setup as the setup is not finalised on the model yet, wrote this in my original post "will be setting the spring tension once fitted "
thanx for the suggestions and thoughts
the baby booma had about 800 flights on it and its still going strong,so will be counting the flights on the Nano and in a few years we see...many gear changes where had in the baby and more than a couple of turbines,Had a long chat with Alan about his designs and He rekons the nanao is built lighter but still has inherant strenght so great news as the baby took a serious beating from many a learner pilot and still took off for more...I had to rebuild the retracts bays and a few soft spots on the fuz but nothing major ...can do this if I need too...
before..
and a few days later...
But Had to build that machine first..took me 2 weeks of 16 hours a day to design and manufature on the fly ..no plans where used just common sense a tape measure a caliper and an electric drill a hand saw and a radial armsaw with tunston carbide cutting wheel took me more than 1.5 years to learn the software to run it smoothly as if you where using a pen to write a letter type smoothness I mean so now its pretty much creativity and insperation to make stuff that drives the machine! Have made a few for friends now about 7 machines are spawn from this device..30 helicopters and soo many trinkets ond blingy things I cannot tell...
meet "BLADERUNNER"
and "BIGBOY"
a 5 axis retrofit machine well 4 axis work just making the 5th now..
and a small vid of the 3 axis working...

G-Day
Yes it is hooker53
had to cut a little slot to fit them inside the bearers and then superglued a drilled and tapped plate so you can bolt it no worries from the top

Sometimes its better to have the retracts screwed down with servo screws as recommended by Alan Cardash, reason being on a heavy landing or normal landing on rough grass as our UK sites tend to be, its better if the retract pulls out rather than rip out the mounts, easy job to make good the hole and re screw them in.

RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
Yes Mike good plan
But!! these electric retracts fit on the other side of the bearer as they are tall units and mounted to the top like normal retract units they stick out by half an inch... So Ive just machine some breakaway spots on the bolts and all good!
cheers

Don't quite understand what you are saying, the electric retracts I have fit the same way as the air retract I have, perhaps a pic may help.

Mike,
That looks like the nose unit with the mounting flanges at the top. I assume the mains are different (and have the flanges at the bottom)?

RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
All becomes clear, seems a bit awkward though, perhaps there is an alternative nose retract available that does mount conventionally?
From the video (which I have now looked at) it looks like the nose wheel bay has been extended to accomodate the very long nose strut, or is that normal for the Nano? if not this will give massive positive incidence on the wing if the main legs fit in the existing bay I think.

RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
Yes the eflite nose retract is designed to sit on top of the bearers not drop through them, like the type of retract mounting designed (but no one can get) for the elan but bigger,

Just finnished the construction of the Main Struts ...here they are unpolished , need to source some springs now and get the weighting right once the Nano is complete...

so just to finish of the pots and decide to cover or paint..

RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
Sluggo,
It would be very tight fit with some weight and balance considerations also. I initially installed an FTE-500 (same case diameter as the Wren 54/Jubilee 80) and had to widen the mounting rails and narrow the turbine mount to get it fitted. I also added about 8 oz of ballast to a hollowed out nose block and a heavy ECU battery to achieve balance. I believe the all-up weight (dry) was about 14 lbs. Later I removed the -500 turbine and installed a Wren 44KGold which lightened up the model to about 12 lbs (dry). The flight characteristics remained about the same but landings were easier with the Wren 44 due to the weight reduction. I plan on replacing the Durbro 50 tank with a 40 oz to further reduce the landing weight. My flight times are about 7 minutes with an ample reserve.
The Wren Jubilee could be made to fit but I'd recommend beefing up the wing-to-fuselage joint and adding some ply doublers to the nose. Also mount your UAT, or equivalent, up front to further reduce the ballast requirement.
Good luck with this and other Nano drivers may chime in also

RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
Thanks for the info, Arro. I'll probably pass then on getting a Jubilee for the jet. I'd rather not have to do a lot of mods to make it fit.
So now, how about the Jet Central Bee II? Is it a "drop in" fit? I'm just trying to find an alternative to a P60.
