Default Kero pump

What pump are you guys using to pump your kero? I know about jersey modeler. Anyone else sell good pumps? and do they reverse? I am building a custom flight box (maybe) and would only need the pump.

Thanks
Dustin

I am using one of the JetCat pumps that I got from Art's Hobbies at Toledo. It is a really nice pump for the kero jug and is purpose made to pump kerosene or gasoline. We found that ours had to have the voltage of the battery cut down to 4 volts. Otherwise, this pump pumps so hard that it will blow tanks up like a balloon. At 4 volts it works great.

Keep that F-86 healthy for Ozark Mountain Jets!

Ditto, Dustin on the pump that JetCat USA and distributors sell. Been using one for the past 18 months. Works perfectly.

Bring that BC to Fondy for the maiden!

I've been using a Kavan pump for three years now. No leaks and works great.

I'm also currently using the Kavan pump, so far without leaks. I have seen these pumps leak after extended use in some cases though, so if you use one just make sure that you orient it in such a way that any leaks drip away from the electric motor.

If & when this one gives up the ghost, I will probably replace it by the style that's used on ther Jersey Modeler can - I believe that's a Jetronics pump.

The Kavan is excellent. Around $35 or so and you will have to wire in a switch unless you use an inexpensive power pannel. Works great on 6v up to 12v. I like the 6 - 7v so there isn't much pressure on the fuel system.

Andrew, that is the pump that JetCat USA sells and comes on the Jersey can.

Cheaper, of course from the manufacturer. Not made by JetTronics, but by Cole-Parmer down in Chicago.

Dustin,

I've got a brand new Kavan pump that I'll sell you for $25. I bought intending to rig up a fuel can but I got talked into the Jersey Modeler can. I really like the Jersey modeler can, hence, I have no need for the Kavan unit. I threw the box away but the pump has never been run.

Regards,

John

Yes Tom, thats what a bunch of us here in Canada bought, they of course work great. I put a blue 20 litre kero jug, the CP pump, a 7.2V RC car pack (and switched it for fill/empty (DPDT toggle with centre off) and with a momentary push on switch to turn it on, so I cant leave it on and walk away) together. Total cost was under $100 Canadian, or about $65 US for a sweet set up.

Default Another source

Here is another source for pumps. Look at the 12 volt pump about half way down the page.
