Default Who connects servos straight to their Futaba 6014rx ??

I'm sure there are some comments made about this in other Futaba threads, but would like to see just how many guys are connecting without any issues, "Non-Futaba Servos" (ie; JR, Hitec, etc..) straight to their Futaba 6014rx's without buffered/amplified leads or using a powerbox or EQ etc..... ??

Any "Y" connectors in your install ??

How many flights on the install this way ??

I think real-life user feedback on this particular issue with the 6014rx would be greatly appreciated by me and I'm sure others who are contemplating one of the new Futaba 12 or 14ch radios.

Thank you and appreciate any input on this subject.

Dan

Dan, I've been doing that since I got my 12Z (a little more than a year ago) with no problems. I currently have the 6014 in a Bandit ARF (no Y's), and a Euro (no Y's). Both aircraft contain all JR servos except the nose steering on the Euro which is Hitec. The rx in the Euro is new, so I don't have much time on it. The rx in the Bandit was in my Bobcat and F-14 before I sold them; and is the one that came with the radio, but I do not know the total number of flights I have on it to date.

I have no problems using them the way I have them set-up, but I do use dual batteries and a power sensor switch in all my aircraft.

Dan,

One 1/4 scale Bearcat, one Yellow Texan, one Yellow P-40, one Reaction 54 jet. All have servos connected direct to the 6014 except: 1) the Bearcat where I used a Smart Fly Power Expander unit because I had some old JR servos in the wing that jittered with the low voltage, plus I liked the addition of redundant power 2) the Reaction 54 jet has all serovs direct, using electrodynamics amplified buffer for the ECU.

No Y-connectors on any of them (why, when you have enough channels?), a mix of JR, Fut and Hitec servos. No issues in literally hundreds of flights, including many fly-ins and Pro Am competition at Top Gun.

I've got three of them flying. A Flash, a sport-scale Alpha Jet, and my departed Eagle VII (that rx is now in a Yak-54). Over 100 flights on the 4 airframes, and all with a mix of servos. The Flash is JR plus Hitec, the others are all Hitec, and both digital and analog servos are used.
I've got dual 5-cell NiMh battery packs with separate switches and plug-ins to the receiver, no regulators.
Haven't had a single radio related issue with temps from 40* to 105*, and elevations from 7000' down to 1000'.

I was hooking up servos in my Ultra Lightning last week. I plugged in two JR 351's for gear and brakes. One worked fine the other would not work at all. I will be using a Smart Fly Power expander so it is not a problem for flying.

I only use JR servos with my 6014rx and 12Z / FASST. I have a little more than 100 turbine flight this year with that config. I don't use Y connectors, amplifiers and perform all the synchronization from the tx program. I use smart-fly regulators with 2 lithium-ion batteries. This setup always performed perfectly.

I have 8 aircraft with mostly Hitec, a few Futaba and 2 or 3 JR servos.
I do not use any Y's.
Power is either a Li-Ion with regulator or a 5 cell NiMh.
Between them I have many hundreds of flights.
The only glitches that I have had originated between my ears. (I WILL master that Knife edge landing technique yet. [X(])

No problems here, 3 jets 14mz 6014 receivers, 5 cell Rx pack, and up to 48" servo leads all is good, not a single glitch. Using all kinds of servos, Hitec, JR and Futaba some are digital and some are standard. Have not used Y leads due to enough channels

I have three jets with the 6014 . All are direct to servos . No Wye's , no buffers etc . I only had a problem with one particular older JR coreless servo . I use 2s A123s or 5 cell Nimhs unregulated . Rock solid all last season .

Big thanks for the information !!

As i3dm said, please keep the testimony's coming.

You are de-mystifying some of the worries many of us have "sitting on the fence" about whether to purchase the 6014rx and radio combo or not.

I do
All my FASST gear runs on HiTec and Futaba servo's, (even used Sanwa) no issues with any of it.
I have used Y leads in some models.
Never had an issue in 18 months, rock solid.

I have just set up a new f-18
cs 170s have been working great on the old one but on the new one I
put ts 150s on the flaps and steering i haven't flown it yet
when operating the steering it locks out completely
for about 2 seconds I cant verify the problem but have some
amplifiers on the way I hope they work

I've never ever used amplifiers, only always 5-cell Nicads since 25 years, without an exception. (in fact, except for a Weatronic RX with Lipos)

On the receivers of all my jets, I opened the Rx's and added extra solder between all the + pins and all the - pins going to the servo leads to allow even higher Amps running through the RXs.
Never had any radio problem whatsoever.
With the R6014FASST, I wanted to do the same thing, but the pins for + and - circuitries are much more difficult to reach with a soldering iron, so I stayed off.
I trust it will be OK, since I have read nothing but positive comments on the whole system R6014 / FASST.
I use 8 digital servos on my Elan, of which 3 are brushless.

PS. In my JetLegend Albatros L-39 1/6 jet, which was logically draining much more (bigger, and more servos, etc), recorded top peaks in flight were 2.3 Amps and this value was MUCH lower than what I expected. I expected peaks of 7-8 Amps, with all these gyros (3) and brushless servos. Consumption per flight was like most other jets around 350 MAh/flight.

I only use heavy duty electric switches (bought from AMT NL, like they use for their ECU's, not the Futaba/JR/... branded RX switches) and silicon heavy duty cables, with MPX or Deans connectors.

Nicolas.
