Heck no I ain't no Nav...........I'm an EWO. That means I can do both the Nav job or the EWO job. Navs are only navs.

In the AF, it is the same career field, it just depends on your ranking and assignment out of undergrad- at least that is what a friend who became a Nav told me........

Not really.

Navs go to Nav school either Randolph or Pensacola. If you go Randolph then you go to Heavy Nav (C-130, AWACS, etc) Halfway through you can track to EWO, finish up EWO school and then go back to Nav school and finish Nav school and get winged. Pensacola Navs are treated more like WSO's. They track to B-1 or F-15E and get winged there.

It is true we all have the same wings but the jobs are entirely different and a Nav isn't an EWO by any stretch but an EWO could be a Nav. The only group that would be close is the B-1 folks because they also attend EWO school.

There has been a refocus in the AF to have Navs be CFO's where they get trained to do both jobs at Nav School. All Nav/EWO training is supposed to head back to Pensacola as well. This way when you go to airframes like the B-52 they pick when you get there what you would do giving the user no choice like there is now (at least a choice if you are #1 in your class that is). But you would not switch back and forth in that airframe from Nav to EWO during your career.

Interesting thing is that the AF is overmanned in Navs and undermanned in EWO's which hurts in the bonus game because the % of overmanned Nav's screws the numbers so bad that we lose the bonus. I kinda like being undermanned though as I get to fly all the time!

Mmmmmm.........EA6B, let's see, if we take out the A, we would have E6B. Now, that sounds familiar!
