RE: 1/6th A-6 Intruder Scratch Build
Ok, I got a little more done tonight. Headed over to the shop after work and got some time on the CNC so I could cut out the wing root plates for the fuse. I got them roughly in place but I need to do more alignment to get them right but they are pretty close so far. The wing has a 0 degree incidence to the center line of the fuse so setup is fairly straight forward.

RE: 1/6th A-6 Intruder Scratch Build
I took a little trip to Home Depot tonight because I saw something there last time that I thought could be good to use for wing cores. I am thinking about the Rudder right now because it is going to be part of the fuse mold, built in as one piece. So here is what I did, I found some polystyrene insulation panels that had a thin vapor barrier on the outside. They only came in 2 inch thick sheets that were 2 x 4 and I needed 4 inch thick. I had priced out a sheet of 4 inch EPS foam and for a 4 x 8 foot sheet it was $122!! Yikes. These panels at Home Depot are $5.69 each. So I peeled off the vapor barrier, very easy and used some 3M adhesive for foam to laminate the 2 pieces together. I then took my old 1/2" MDF table top which I recently replaced with a fresh sheet and used that as a press to keep them nice and flat. From this glue up I will cut out the blank for the rudder core, stay tuned.

That's a huge score Thomas. Not sure if I am going to be using it but I will keep that offer in mind, thanks buddy!! Use every bit you can on the 14 though, its gonna take a lot. Yeah, I thought that was pretty steep for foam to so here I am, we'll see if I can find a budget work around.

RE: 1/6th A-6 Intruder Scratch Build
Same place Thomas. I contacted them and they said that they can scale the 1/5.5 gear down to 1/6th so I am about to send them my deposit to start work on them.
Once my glue was dry and set I whipped out the hot wire bows and bang!!!!! I got me a nice rudder outline blank ready for cutting. My dad is bringing home some formica for me to make templates for the airfoil cutting. I have already drawn up the templates in Profili so I just need to print them out and cut them. I am on the rope of how to cut them out. Originally I wanted to cut them on the laser cutter but I think based on the MSDS sheet laser cutting formica lets out some hazardous fumes. I will have to do more research for that and see if it is safe or not, I hope it is, nothing beats the laser cutter!!!

Closest one to you Thomas is Durham, N.C. They have been doing really good and I think they are expanding to more locations so you never know. Its a great idea for people in this hobby and the membership is paying off bigtime.

Patience Carlos, patience, al will be revealed soon. A couple more pieces of foam here and there and I will post some pictures in her extremely "rough" state.

Yeah sorry bud, but LA Jets will be going on this weekend out in Van Nuys so you should head out there and check out the goods. I was thinking about trying to get down there but it looks like I won't be going. No one wants my F-15.
