Hi,
I have flown planes for many years including large scale warbirds right through to 3D and I am looking at getting into jets. (and no I don't want a lecture on how I should start with a trainer.LOL) I have always wanted an A-10 and the only good one I can find is the Mibo kit, but due to transport reasons it's simply too big. Where else can I find a nice A-10 kit/arf that is a bit smaller, something like a 1/6 - 1/9 scale or similar?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
James

The only answer for the title of this thread is only one. MIBO. Now if your looking for a smaller one, then shoot an email to Lowell. He is the dealer for a nice electric version that can be converted to twin wren 44's. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_85..._1/key_/tm.htm

Hello,
this is my one, but not ready to fly.
I think, it will be ready in the nearest future.
Wingspan: 1480mm
Length: 1250mm
dry weight (I hope): 3,2kg

MIBO...latest version 4 plus the Farm Cat modifications! This A-10 is just right!! BIG yes, a little heavy yep..But it flies like a BIG PUPPY. Lands here at altitude at a walk with full flair / pitch control. Light touch downs are a given. Egil (Eggs) is the owner (left) / pilot pictured with Jerry (center) & Ryan (right)..builder / painter. Maybe a little big & heavy for two P-80's but it would fly safely!
Jerry did the build witch includes many modifications for the two Jet Cat P-200's. Yep, I said Jet Cat P-200's..but hold on the power is just right!! Yes, it will climb out straight up for a long time...but normal flight only requires about 1/2 power. Extra power is what this big A-10 needs. This model flies just like the real one's and there is always extra power for those short takeoffs / power climbs and just the extra power we all wish for!
I've seen far too many A-10's of all sizes always seem to be under powered even if slightly. this one's not! Split / dual Tam smoke system. The Jet Cat’s start and run in tandem flawlessly! The RPM's stay in-sink at all times. One big roar with both @ full power. The landing gear has been custom machined for the higher all up weight. which is right at the 75 lb mark. All up weight was adjusted by limiting fuel load / tank configuration.
The scale detail of this version 4 MIBO is complete! As you can see not much left to the imagination. Egil is very proud of his A-10 as he well should be. Next week Egil will bring his A-10 in under the AMA Experimental Permit to Fly regulations.. Ready for AMA events.
I have been fortunate enough to witness the build process and several of the first test flights.

I am flying my MIBO G4 with a pair of US Microjets 180s set at 20# of blow each that fly it just fine.
Several folks have flown all generations of the MIBO Hawg with P70s & 80s and all the way up to P200s.

Oh yea Joe, absolutely more than enough for any and all maneuvers.
I am far more confortable with 120s than any other size.
I cannot really say, having no experience at high altitudes, but would suppose you made need more blow than here in the midwest 160s should be fine. If you get heavy with extra fuel, smoke, etc, say 65+ lbs, you will probably need an upgrade to heavier main springs and exhaust. The kit, as produced, is outfitted for +/- 55 lbs.

Hi Roger,
Yes I did upgrade to a heavier spring, and I had Tam make me new pipes to handle the 160"s, the A-10 should be ready to fly in Oct at the Sun Valley jet event, looking forward to it.

A video of mine taken at a recent event in Europe.
Mibo kit 2X P-160SX Power. I would have no less. I cant see any penalty of these over a 80 or 120 and the extra power in reserve is just marvelous. This one has now sold and I have a new version coming. It's just one of those planes that I dont think I can be without now. Super stable platform, with a wide speed range. Really rugged and as happy on grass as it is the hard stuff. Perfect size. Just manageable by myself yet not so small that its presence is lost as soon as its off the deck.
Most of all its super super reliable. An absolutely ideal display model... I wish they could all be this way

Does MIBO jets have a website to promote their A10? I am interested in purchasing one but after a quick google search was disappointed that I came up empty handed for a source of the A 10.

. MIBO is by far the best A-10. I did not like full scale A-10 much until I keep on seeing these big MIBO A10 at our field. They are impressive.
