Seems to me like jet fields aren't exactly down the street for most. I'm about ready to start hitting the road to get some more flight time over here

So far my average drive is about 1-1.5 hours, I really don't mind it. Floyd Bennett is about 3 for me and I think Im gonna make the journey pretty soon. Maybe find something els nearby as well!

How far do you guys drive to fly your jets? Just want to get an idea what the average is.

If you fly in your backyard please don't respond as this will make me insanely jealous!!

Our local grass field closed so we drive about 3 hrs to fly off an airport runway in a small town. The upside is the facility is excellent with lots of airspace. [8D]

Heading down to JOW this weekend which is about 2 hrs drive plus whatever border hassles. [&o]

it's 7 miles to the little 300' x 1500' runway field, and 23 miles to the 1200' x 2500' one, we typically fly at the big field on Saturday and the little field on Sunday and weekdays during the brakes between AM and PM flights and them between PM and N1 flights.

before i got married the fist time and moved the little field was actually in my back yard, it was a hop across the fence

18 miles to the club field and 66 miles to the other club field.
25 minutes for one and a little more than an hour for the second. I'm the only jet flier at the first club so I go to the second to fly with other jet buddies.

had one of the Georgia Jet guys come down and fly with me one weekend, said he had a hard time lining up on centerline for landing because of the BIG runway we have. people were commenting about how big Mac Hodges place was at the Mid-Georgia rally last month and he told them about our fields

It's only about 120 miles I guess, but because it's all through the mountains it's a 3 hour trip for me.

It is 80 miles, one-way to my "home" field in Las Vegas. We go every Sunday and sometimes on Saturday too. So at a minimum 160 a weekend....

i absolutely hate driving that's why i don't goto many events and if i had to drive as far as some of you guys to fly every time, I'd find a new hobby

I dont mind the drive, gives me time to think....

To make you jealous I have to drive 20 minuts to Airforcebase Leeuwarden.
The perfect location to fly Jet every Saturday and Sunday we are also permittet to fly wednesday and friday evenings over there!

flying on a military base defiantly has its benefits, on most every week day the US Army so kindly flies in hundreds of helicopters to make sure all dust and debris are kept blown off our runways, an on field fire department when the tower is active, they keep a 150lb halon extinguisher on hand and they even send a crew in once every few weeks to keep up with the mowing and best of all, the pit area is all concrete

Actually, I only have to walk about 200 feet to the flight line, because I work at the airport where I fly jets. The thing is, that I mostly fly at jetmeets, so I have to travel quite a distance to go fly with my mates. But who cares about a 200 mile drive, if the weather and company is great and the beer is cold [8D] Right?

My preferred field id the Waco club field but thats 90 miles each way and I only do that trip now and then.

The club field is 32 miles away. We have an annual jet rally there. We often fly from a full size airport that is 46 miles away. Other wise I travel to jet events to fly. Jets over Kentucky, and Cincinnati Jets so far this year with Route 66 Jets coming up soon.
