There was one in May (I went) but the weather was really bad. I felt bad for Mark.
There is one coming up in Hamburg, PA the 9-11 of October
www.farviewflyers.net for event info.
I went to this one last year and it was awesome!

Literally hundreds of people have flown every kind of jet imaginable
from our runway, and not one has ever had damage or issues
from the grass. I personally have flown a composite super bandit
for 3 years there, with no gear issues, with the stock struts. Also,
tam and aviation design,f16s. Adil, and the Malchiones both ,
flew heavy f4's there with no issues. Our field is Jet friendly,
and we do our best to have a fun, laid back event. Have fun
in Titusville.

Warbird, as for all future jet events at the Mt pocono airport? There will NOT be any. Airport has a few issues and concerns after the crash on Friday afternoon. and with the airport now under construction for the next 2 years, all future jet rally's have been put on hold......

been there , seen it ,done it. and yes i would love to come again. not this year , but next year. i hope the weather holds for everyone God knows we've had enough rain. And on a side note . 99% of my jet flying is off grass . that's why i don't own anything scale or heavy though i think a f-15 would do ok. Good luck and be safe WB_1

If you fly off of grass and you think that the Hamburg field isn't up to snuff, you must fly off of a putting green at the local Country Club. Have you really ever been to Hamburg to fly?

i'm not really going to go any further with this after this post. I know rick and i told him he was a stand up guy. my intension was not to run the club or field down as some have suggested but just to simply explain why i'd rather fly off pavement rather than grass . 99% of my flying is off grass and that's why i don't own any heavy scale jets. IMO grass is to hard on the airframes ,gear , etc. when i say this i'm talking from experience. i know what frost does to dirt. i'm sure there's a lot of guys that have places they like or don't like . personally i think the imaa meet held in hamburg is a go to place. to answer your question about if i have ever been to hamburg is simple, yes . i was there last year and had a good time . your question is what's wrong with people willing to jump your sh** with out the facts. you just assumed i had never been there and that i was throwing rocks at a club without the facts.Well i like to think i know what i'm talking about but at the same time i'm to willing stand corrected if i am wrong . so for the last time please don't read anymore into it than there is , WB_1

I wasn't intending to jump on or in anything. It was your implication that the field wasn't suitable for heavy scale jets that got me going. After seeing the large , heavy and very expensive jets (i.e. Mibo A-10's, and the BVM crew) flying there without incident, I'm convinced anything currently sold as a scale or semi-scale jet could fly from that field without incident.
Hope to meet you next time you go. I'll be there again this year.
Best regards,
Bob

Thanks for the kind words and support for our club and jet event Bob.... I know that anyone who has flown props, jets or electrics at Farview would agree. Doesn't get much better than Grim Airpark in Hamburg....... that's why I tried for ten years to get back to this site to fly RC..... The Boys at Farview (Erik, Lee, Jimmy and Dave) have done all the rest!!
We've rolled our field every year with a 20 ton vibratory impact roller and it's really looking great!
BVM and Kerry Sterner from US SimJet LLC highly endorses our Jet Rally and are major sponsors of the Hamburg Jet Jamboree. Not too bad for our club resume..... At least we don't have landing lights on our runway..... [sm=confused_smile.gif]

Warbird,
I am one of the cd's of the Hamburg event. My background
is 30 years of rc flying,and I am a Captain/check airman for
the worlds largest airline. We put alot of effort into making
our event/facility a place that any jet pilot would be comfortable
at. My friends take offense at your judgement in a public forum,
when you clearly have very limited experience in rc jet ops.
My first response only addressed your judgement of our facilities.
Bob Violett will be attending our event again, because he had fun
last year, and he believes our facilities are "jet friendly". You should
come. You will have fun,and meet many really cool people who share
your passsion.

Anyone who hasn't made reservations yet, do so ASAP!
I tried to make reservations and the closest I could get for a no smoking room is the HolidayInn Express in Allentown. ( I didn't try the Ma and Pa motels, they may have something closer)
There's a soccer tournament that weekend and all the hotels I called were booked up Saturday night.
BRG,
Jon

You can try this one by the Reading Airport. From there it's about a 15 - 20 min drive to the field.
