Had three days of great weather without any appreciable wind. The flying site was in surperb condition with a 650 foot runway which most pilots hit without a problem.
Turnout was surprisingly lite with 17 pilots in attendance. Alot of last minute cancellations.
Two Bobcats found a barbed wire fence 100 yards off the end of the runway. I guess they were trying to land in the adjacent cow pasture. Mike Jensen had an elevator problem with his plane following a flameout immediately upon takeoff. He failed to feed in the up elevator when he approached the fence!
I don't know what Joey Tamez was trying to do. I think he thought a cow patty would be softer than that 650 foot runway.
In all, the meet went very well with the exception of those two losses. No pit incidents, no fires, just great flying.
Summary of awards:
1. Best Flight Performance - Steven Ellzey flying a BVM Bandit
2. Best Sport Jet - Dawn Ellzey flying a BVM Bobcat
3. Best Scale Jet - Kevin Whitlow flying an MB339 Aeromachie
4. Pilot's Choice Award - Kevin Whitlow flying the Aeromachie and BVM Bobcat
5. Top Gun Award - Mike Jensen flying a BVM F-4 Phantom and BVM Bobcat
6. Winner of the F-86 kit - Raymond Hamel, Kit donated by kyosho / Great Planes
7. Futaba Radio Winner, Kent McClurg, Radio donated by Futaba / Great Planes
8. Complete Dremel tool set - Bob Covish
Gave away approximately $2000 in products.
Pictures to follow.
