Anybody running a PC interface successfully with their FADEC Auto- start ECU? After downloading the software, I still can't get the ECU and the PC to talk to each other. Thanks, Bob

Kelly, I tried all ports ( 4) and all said " port unavailable on this computer" except for # 4, and after selecting that one still no communication . I have a Compaq Presario 900 and I would assume it should support this just fine. Also, I'm running XP. Bob

You could have a modem or other device using the port, depends on how XP is set up, the hardware your PC has, etc, etc, etc... I've never used XP myself so I can't help you there... I run Win2K, and my PC is set up to interface with the TEMS units and the FADEC's.
I'd bet its a problem in your PC. All I can say is keep fiddling with it and suddenly it'll work.
As strong said, an email to Gaspar wouldn't hurt either.
Good luck,
KW

Do you have the correct cable?
The cable interface has a voltage converter because the levels at the COM port are too high.
I tried to talk with the ECU only to find out that I couldn't and nearly fried the electronics while trying.
Talk to Gaspar before you continue.

Here's one of Gaspar's web pages. His email address is at the bottom along with most of the info you're looking for on the subsequent pages. The ECU's are the same with different software so the PC interface will work, although there's not much use in it. The PC interface is really handy for backing up and reprogramming ECU's for different motors but the software on the ECU you have is limited to match up with your engine and the necessary safety limits: RPM, EGT, etc. That being said, its kind neat. I think the newest ones have a data logging feature that you may be able to access.
