I use a dental pick, gently pull out the coil as shown
However my days of using glow plugs will be over as soon as I get my new ceramic igniter from Jet Central

Mine plug looks the same as Rich's when done but I use a T-pin.
The dental pick would be alot easier. it has a bigger handle to hold onto then a t-pin does.
I also agree on the plug my Rhino has one I need to get one for the Falcon.

I had to do quite a few plugs a while back, so I made up a tool from a t-pin and 1/4" dowel. Took about five minutes to make.
I have had the best luck with Rossi R8 plugs.

All of the above methods are great, and will all work judt fine. Before you pull the coil though, heat the coil on a glow plug ignighter for a couple seconds. This will make the coil more less brittle, and you will have much success. I have found Rossi #8s to be the best. Other plugs have a 8 thousands coil but the Rossi #8 has a 10 thousands could. The last longer, and will work withe heaters with voltage with voltage of up to 2.5 volts. Using these plugs, you should not have to change it for the entire season, if you need to change it at all at that point.
Good Luck

Pst Jets recommend the OS glow plug A3. Is the Rossi #8 compatable ? the A3 thread lengh is quite short about 1/4 inch of threads.

I tried to use the Dura-Plug Tubine Glow Plug in my PST 600R, and it was a failure. It lasted for maybe 1/2 start. The glow plug failed with an open circuit during my first start attempt. I\'m back to using an O.S. A3 glow plug, as PST recommends. Response from Dreamworks: We do not have any experience with this plug in PST line of engines. It is quite possible the Glow value was set too high for this plug!..
Maybe if someone else has tried one in there pst 1300 and shime in here i might just get some
Thank you

Dura-Plugs didn't work for me in my Rhino turbine. They all lasted one start. Tried all kind of different settings and there was no difference.
Currently changing to ceramic ignitors.

Well, Here is one good report. I used one. Just one all summer long. do you remember in the glow days, there was always one fellow on the line tweaking, tweaking and more tweaking his engine. that type never kept a relieable engine running. Now I know, there are prob some turbines out there that will not like this plug. But, I set my voltage low and work from there and left it alone. I bought two of them and I'v never opened the second one up. I had one failure after another on the Reg. plugs that you have to tweak. I glowed mine up before I picked them and used a dental explorer to do the pull out. Sometimes one would last 4/5 starts. But for my turbine all problems ended with the dura plug. So, If you have not tried one, you might find that your turbine might like them. Good luck with whatever you find and let us know what worked. There are better ways to do a start as mentioned but all i have is a glow start right now.

Think it's 1/4-32
Edited to say that's the tap I have used for years and it seems perfect to me but best check before you invest in your new tap if thats what you are thinking of doing..

Last Spring I blew McCoy plugs about every fourth or fifth flight in my Eagle.
I was all out of McCoy, Rossi, and OS so I went to my glo flight box and pulled out a regular Fox standard. It lasted the whole summer
I can't remember what's in my Wren SS but I think I may have changed that plug once in two seasons.
