There goes that broad-brush again! Yellow Aircraft are excellent and DO NOT LEAK. A few companies bought and repackage them under their own brand names, until they went with the lower-bidding cheap junk. Nobody's ever bought an ARF from us and then found that they had to throw away the installed cylinders....

Sorry [
] It's been my experience, though my P-38 Lightning cylinders are good. We don't see many Yellow jets in the UK, I'm sure there are a more and more getting it right. Earlier experience was not good, but people learn quick.

Dave,
You've had Y/A cylinders leak? I don't ENTIRELY disagree with you because there's a new Chinese ARF mfgr popping up every day and the lame cylinders seem to be one of the things they have in common. Our cylinders haven't only recently started working, however. I still can't understand why anyone would send stuff out the door without testing it (or, at least sampling it).

NO! Sorry I'm obviously not clear.
I have a P-38 and the cylinders are 4-5 years old and still don't leak. That is my only experience.
I do agree that there has been a lot of stuff sent out that wasn't developed or tested. For a long time it was a joke at UK meetings about gear working. It's improved a lot recently for sure, but it needed too.
It's not easy on small dia rams, tolerences are much tighter, some problems are simply down to undersized rams being used...
