I took my Elan out for the first flight of the year. Tested all the controlls and everything was fine. Shut down the RX and fueled up. After getting clearence to fly I turned on the TX than RX fired it up. While taxing out to fly the 2 elevator servo's were fluttering. All other controlls were fine. I taxied back into the pits and shut it down. I than did a complete radio and range check. There were NO problems. After 3 test without any problems it was fine. I than flew it and again, NO problems. Can anyone tell me why this happened??
I fly a 9303 2.4
Thanks
Hoss

Hoss,
For some reason the tail feather servos on the Elan seem to be sensitive to the peak voltage right after coming off charge. Mine does the same thing but settles down to a steady state after a short while. I know you have a lot of previous flights on your bird but how about your charger? Is it the same one you have always used? Do the rudder servos do the same thing? Are all your servos digital?

What type of servos? What ever you do DONT fly again until you get this resolved. It could cost you the jet. If you are running a regulator there shouldn't be any peak voltage at all. Should be constant.

Thanks for the responses guys
I should have said that the servo's are 8611's and Ni Mia batteries
I do all my charging the same way. Trition Charger
And no,, the rudder servo's did not glitch.....
I am confused too. It acted like a bad glitch.
Thanks guys

Do you have a GEM 2000?

They are about $25 and worth every penny. They have pointed out naughty or disturbed servos to me in the past and saved me jets!
Get one, they can get it to you in 3-4 days, plug it in. It will tell you a lot.

Hi, I used to use Futaba servos in my Mig 29 stab. They used to flutter around the neutral point. If you touched them they stopped.
Cheap servos didn't do it just the better quality ones.
I then went to 6 volts which helped but not a full cure.
The same servos didn't flutter when just plugged into the receiver with no extension leads.
In the end I used JR servos which solved the problem but I never really found out why they did it.

Hoss.
I had 8611s and this problem. HOW is it wired to the radio? Are you on a match box or Y cord? what radio.
The problem that I had was exactly this: I had 2 8611A's on a Y cord right at the radio. There is almost 8 feet of servo wire to get you to the tail. I would get the jitter. If I unplugged one of them, it went away. That said to me that the SIGNAL wasn't strong enough to work both servos on the Y cord.
the High voltage jitter will usually go away in a couple mins. this problem didn't ever go away until I Plugged each servo directly into the receiver. I had to go to a 12 channel to do so.
Also make sure the wires used are high quality.
That ended my problem.
If you didn't have enough channels and had them on a single wire, you could plug a battery directly into a matchbox instead of the radio if you are using a traditional receiver. I was having this problem on a SPektrum Power 9, so I know it was getting plenty of power to the wire.
If I grabbed the servo, it loaded well, so I only noticed it on the ground.
