Just what are you guys on ?

Where, just where , did I attack the SR71, you really must take more water with it ! Deep end, far from it, just putting the European perspective, with feeling, but clearly not allowed here or personal attacks follow, just like the Shuttle thread and the Waiver thread, where posters have resorted to the behaviour of precocious kids.

Arrogance, Hustler , is believing ones OWN opinion is better than another simply because its one's OWN opinion. Knowing your subject well and projecting your case with passion, conviction and knowledge of the subject is NOT arrogance. Sorry you were not able to see that !

We obviously don't speak the same sort of English.

And now for something completely different...
How about covertly selling plans or a concorde to these guys, they will have it back in the air in no time, hell even the Shuttle or SR-71

Comparing the Concorde to the SR-71 is not right at all. One fact that no one mentions is that both the SR-71 and the U-2 both can fly above 90,000 feet. And the last thing the U-2 is, is a regular airplane, with a regular engine. The engine of the U-2 was built with extreme manufacturing tollerences so that it could still function up there in the Thin Air. Kelly Johnson designed both, and did so with a slide rule as mentioned above. Not to mention that there is a HUGE difference between flying Mach 2 and Mach 3, especially when it comes to heat.
But all three aircraft are in a class of their own and should not be compared at all..
With that said, I would love to see a Concorde take to the Skies again, THere is nothing more satisfying than standing on a flight Line and watching that Bird Leave the Runway, Its loud enough to vibrate your guts like you were sitting on a paint mixer.

1. BA visiting San Juan ~ 1976 (The year of the Falcon......when Falcon Wings was born). That is the rudder of an Eatern Airlines Whisperjet........another Kelly Johnson marvel......the L10-11.
2. AF visitng San Juan ~1988, when the US was still friends with France
3. Dragon Lady in Aguadilla P.R. (formerly Ramey AFB), 3 months ago. They were doing surveying over Haiti after the Quake.

And you as well! Thank you.

They wouldn't let me join CAP because I was too young and then by the time I was old enough, I had already flown the Space Shuttle so I just never joined. []

Anyhow, I was fortunate to have seen both the Concorde and SR-71 (I think) a few times and can attest to them both being very fast, (or so I've heard) After that initial bump past Mach 1, it all becomes numbers, although the windows do get a bit warm after a while, then there's that fuselage stretch just aft of the engineers panel on the Concorde that is always comforting to know.

I grew up making paper airplanes like these guys:
[link=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-484248/Paper-aeroplanes-used-test-Concorde-wing-shapes.html]http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-484248/Paper-aeroplanes-used-test-Concorde-wing-shapes.html[/link]

. . . "The Dart", "Bat", "Glider", anything that I could make out of paper that flew. Concorde was always one of my favorite planes because "The Arrow", paper airplane looked so much like it, and it went the furthest and fastest when you threw it! I was able to talk my parents into getting a plastic model of a Concorde when I was like 7 so that I could make it as a birthday gift for my brother who was going to be 5, partly because I liked it so much, but more importantly because I knew he wouldn't want it and I could keep it, but that would be a way of me getting it sooner because his birthday was a month before mine!

Sure would be nice to see the Concorde fly again.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't a crap load of SR71 information still classified???(top speed, max altitude, max range). I'm pretty sure that concorde info can be found just about anywhere.  SR71 has no competition</p>

Hey guys,

Chill out will ya all, we all know Concorde is ONE VERY majestic aircraft and it should still be flying as it was prematurely retired in 03!, now lets all who love this marvelous aircraft support SCG and Olympus 593 groups to get one in air again. It's a doable task but also a gruesome one too as they need way way more funds then $15M they said so far. I love it very much and have been slowly working on making a 1:14th scale EDF powered model of the beast by using actual aerodynamic 3 views from BAC-SUD. So stop arguing with each other and appreciate what this achievement is and will always be....It's not comparable to others achievements as posted in above posts!

Just quoting an example of arrogance. Part of the definition is one is incapable of recognizing it in oneself because opinions appear to be facts. o onesself.
Saying this a little in jest but there is some truth to it. Can you not understand that if one is arrogant one may not recognize it?

It is one very impressive aircraft even though the cabin was built for midgets! (joke-my first impression on entering!)

Hey Concorde lovers my model has progressed from 1:14th scale to 1:12th scale due to some technical reasons relating to the thickness of wing where landing gears would be mounted. Even at 1:12th scale wing at that location is only 2" thick!, not much there but it's enough to install decent type of retracts. Here is my thread on RCG since it's designed as EDF model.

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1234671

Hope you all like it and if anyone have suggestions to opinions to share, you are welcome to chime in.

. I know what a GREAT Plane it is. It's your constant ''Arrogance'' that drives me and other crazy, and you are so high and mighty you don't see it in my comment ! My be one day you can look in the mirror and see that it isn't comment that people don't get it's way it is said
Well said and so true. Many people do many great things. Concord was just an airplane. Europe has far greater things to be proud of.

It's 17 feet in length with 7 feet wingspan, height from ground to tip of the tail will be 31" approx + or -

FWIW.. Brian Shul, author of Sled Driver revealed in the book that more than once, he had the airplane over Mach 3.5 at 90,000 feet during operations over Libya. Nobody is trying to cheapen the accomplishments of the Concorde, but the SR is something very different.
