Hey Collin,

We used 1" on Rudder, Aileron's and Elevator. We used 1 1/4" on flaps...

Did they give you the full deflection needed?

Have you fitted the cockpit yet? How much did you trim off the tub sides as they are to thick for the canopy to hold down. Close up pics would be a help.

Ian,

I will have some close up pics and details for you shortly. He will be working on that soon.

Some pics of the elevators. John was able to get these in there without having to notch out fuselage...

As usual, John is doing it right! He is, by far one of the most solid builders out there! What's cool about John is his background in "stick building" and fabricating, molding parts on Top Gun contending warbirds for over 20 years. Watching him build Mac Hodges new B-29 from a foam core with NO real defined plans...shows his brilliance. And, when Mac flat spinned it in at Cape Coral, John had the airframe back and RTF in a week!!!

The ByPass thingy...not an issue! Ali has three flying without ByPasses, better performance for Turbine without one, no open belly from gear doors for FOD issues, plus John has all vitals well protected from heat. I know I am jumping in on the tail end of this thread...but, rest assured, John does his research before he makes any MAJOR decisions.

Go, John, Go!

Rex

John is going great work and I couldnt be happier, almost there. On the edge of my seat waiting for this. I guess John has been a little under the weather, hopefully he feels better. Although Rex, you better go over there and get accustomed to this thing, you'll be doing the maiden. I expect a full flight report on this thread when done...lol

LOL, for some reason, I am getting "used" to maidening planes for others these days I look forward to it. Just got off the phone with John and it sounds like he is just around the corner from battening down the final work and getting it ready to fire up. He is in ready go position...lots of projects in line for the next several weeks, let alone getting a few more Hawks going with me too

Super Jets South is now officially on the Radar screen at about 5-6 weeks out and I hope you can make it down for that one...great venue! Trying to get James Chen and FEJ crew down for that one too. I bet you will see final build pics in the next day or so. Glad you went with the Rx setup you moved to...makes better sense!

Heres some pics of the canopy. John had to add 1/4X3/8 Balsa to the bottom flange for the tubs to sit on. This will give more room for the equipment tray.

Front tray coming together...more pics to follow. Hoping for a Thursday maiden providing no glitches...John is taking his time making sure every part of this build is done right. When we talk he goes through every step of the build and what he is doing, telling me scenarios and preventions. I'm just happy knowing I am getting a solid jet..Thanks John
