Default Jr 8911 servo. Help.

Hi Guys,

Just bought 2 new Jr 8911 servos for the elevator control for my skygate hawk. I connected the servos to the Rx using A123 battery which was charged around 3 weeks ago and played around with the sticks on my Tx just to test if the servos run O.K. ( This was done outside the model and no load on the servos) After around 3-4 min of moving the stick the heat sink got a bit warm which i think is normal for high torque servos, and then the servo momentarily stopped responding to the stick movement. I then tried the other servo which worked perfectly for 3-4 min of stick movement. I then once again tried the problematic servo and it runs fine now. I initially thought the 1100mah battery was not up to the job for the servo.
(only used for testing) but the other servo ran fine with the same battery and there is no load on the servo.

Do these servos need some running inn initially to settle down. Would have sent it back for sure if i had a LHS here in India selling these servos the problem is i bought the servos from Dubai and would be a bit painful sending 1 servo all the way back. All my other jets are all configured with JR servos, hundreds of flights on them and not a single problem so far.

Would just like to be 100% sure there is a genuine problem before i send it back.

Thanks
Chaitanya.

Hi Dave,

I normally use the 12X but tried these servos out with the 11X i just bought. A123 battery unregulated directly into a SPCM 10 ch synthesized Rx. May be the servo did not like the slightly higher voltage. I just used this setup for testing the servo, final setup will be regulated voltage via a powerbox champion RRS. Ran the 8911 for 10 min more, regulated this time and seems to be running fine. Slightly confused now.

Was thinking you could use the servo test to run the servo for a time. Why take a step back on radio?

Dave,

What is this servo test you mentioned. The 12x will be used on the hawk, the 11x is only a replacement for my 9X which is now old and has given me years of good service.

I may be missing something here but you said you used a SPCM 10 ch synthesized Rx and a JR 11X transmitter. The 11X is 2.4 mHz and the receiver is 72 mHz. How did you get them to work together?

Hi Booker,

I bought the 11X in singapore and have the module version, yes it came with the 2.4 module and 12 ch Rx, i just removed the 2.4 module and stuck my 36MHZ module in the Tx.

I wasn't aware the 11X was made with the module.
