Fly Eagle A-7 Corsair Build
1 Attachment(s)
I received my A-7 three weeks ago, and was quite amazed at the quality of the kit. The new honeycomb technique makes for a solid and very light kit. I hastly removed the contents from the well packed box, and assembled them in the living room before Dorothy arrived! The kit is excellent, and I look forward to posting many pictures during the build. Thereafter...it's to the basement, and let the fun beginhttp://img10.quebles.com/content/125382/1512429.gif .
|

Lewis:
Looks great... I purchased the FEJ 1/6 Advanced J-10 (w/ honeycomb material). Waiting for it to arrive. Hopefully I will have it ready for KY Jets! Got to be lighter than my FEJ A10! Please post any build tips related to the honeycomb material (ie. servo mounting, etc.) so we can "go to school" on your build. Thanks Nick |

Installed the8711 JR servos. Both will be sheilded with BVM ceramic blanket. Probably won't need it, but want to make sure. Also used hangar 9 turnbuckles and Dubro 4-40 links. This application has proved to be very reliable in all of my planes. Make verythereisn't any binding. Notice the links are installed as far away from the pipe as possible (backside).
|

Craig,
Are you sure that's a picture of you? I mean...that pilot is dashing looking...has the steely eyed stare of a real sky warrior ETC ETC ETC. You on the other hand...Uh...I mean...well...ahem... Beave :D ORIGINAL: CraigG [/quote] |

The 8411 Jr servo was very easy to install. I used 1/4 light ply as a base (picture 3), then attached a Tam Jets SSMO4A servo mount to the base. This will inhibit any flexibility in the sides of the fin.

Photo one showing one of the mounting clamps for the fin. The fin is very secure once installed. Photo two and threedisplaying the awesome landing gear. No leaks in any of the cylinders (including doors). The gear is well constructed and very sturdy. This entire area will recieve BVM ceramic blanket for protection.
|

Just finished the A-7 today. Really turned out great. Here are a few more pictures.
The build was a straight forward process. No modifications to this point. Will continue to go over everything, with a test flight planned for March 27th is the weather is ok. |
RE: Fly Eagle A-7 Corsair Build
Lewis, it sure looks great. Mine is going to have the new leading edge slats on it. They are working on it now. Can't wait to hear how she goes. Get some video!!
Thanks for the great build. Lowell |

RE: Fly Eagle A-7 Corsair Build
Lewis, you will really like it. If there is a jet that fly's like a trainer it is this one. Kind of funny, it really feels like a high wing trainer, very stable, does'nt do anything weird, never feels "locked in" like a sport jet but at the same time does'nt feel sporty and agile like an F-18, F15 or other like. does drop the nose a little in the turn. The Rhino fly's it good, plenty to take off but wont go too fast, have to lead any kind of verticle. Lands absolutely great ( no flaps at all ), need to carry throttle fairly heavy until where you want to land and there you are with plenty of control.
