Wow less then 2 weeks and not even a fast build or anything. I guess this plane is not of much interest to anyone.

I'll give you one. VERY FAST BUILD!!!

You built this faster than I do my ARF's

Don does do some awesome and fast work. I can't wait to see 40,000 rivets on it. The red trim goes on wednesday and more shades of silver for panels.

Kevin who makes the wings tanks you're installing? They will give your Starfire a very aggressive look.
Looking forward to seeing photos of the finished model.

RE: Yellow Starfire Build

They are Yellows F4 wing tanks. Don made the pylons. I agree I think they are going to look great.

Bob_B 02-29-2012 05:47 AM

RE: Yellow Starfire Build

Would Don make another set of pylons?

Very nice Kevin. I agree with Bob, those tanks are a very nice additon!
Btw, why rivet it AFTER that paint?? Seems like it would damage the finish to burn them all in after the fact.

Kevin, I guess Don will finish the Starfire before I finish my Bae Hawk. I can't wait to see the final paint with rivets and lines.

This is crazy how fast you are gettign this done. You have to be working on it full time or something. What kind of paint are you using. The silver and Black looks cool. Reminds me of a B-58 Hustler....especially with the drop tanks.

I'm watching,. Super fast build. I would like to see the insides layed out in detail. Cheers.

The paints are PPG shopline. Should have the red shot tommorrow with some more silver panels of a different shade.

Wow,

This is ridiculous. I've never seen work this fast that's this good.

Kevin what servos did you use for the wing?

kevinthoele 03-06-2012 07:15 AM

RE: Yellow Starfire Build

I used Hitech 5245 digitals. I used them in my last Starfire and it was fine. I used the thin wing hitech digital in the elev mounted in stab.

Great Job Kevin. I am also building a Starfire and I have to say the kit is a joy to build because everything is cut so nice and assembles like a jigsaw puzzle. I am going to make it electric. I have seen this model with an electric Dynamax go over 200 mph and land at a very slow speed Great airplane that has great performance and does not cost an arm and leg. I will post some pics as soon it is painted.

Nice build and paint job Don! Kevin what does the underside look like? Will it be the same as top with addition of tanks?

kevinthoele 03-06-2012 02:30 PM

RE: Yellow Starfire Build

Just one pic of the bottom. You can see my hand and the servos door. Going to be mostly silver with lots of rivets on the bottom. Stripes on the wing tips and elevators and of course the underwing tanks with black nose on tanks

Hi,

I checked in with Gary and he's out of bell-mouths. His supplier is out. Tam is out. Everyone is out. I have a NIB one for the same pipe that I'm putting in the mail and you'll have your pipe on Monday. Sorry it's taken this long :-(
